WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 30TH MARCH 2026

Last Updated: 27 Mar 2026 @ 00:00 AM

Clever Cats and Clever Kittens Next week the Clever Cats and Clever Kittens will be learning all about Easter. We will be creating our own Easter Egg patterns on the funky fingers table, encouraging the children to use their hand eye co-ordination skills to develop different patterns. We will be using our literacy skills to write a letter to the Easter Bunny, sending it off for a special surprise! The Clever Kittens and Clever Cats will be having an Easter Egg hunt in the sand tray, using their maths skills to count how many they can find!

Ladybirds The children will take part in playdough play, “feeding the chickens,” helping to develop their fine motor skills and imagination. They will also be decorating their own Easter eggs using paint and craft materials, exploring colours and creativity. In our sand tray, we will be focusing on early maths skills through scooping, filling and counting hidden eggs. Our farm small world area will support language and imaginative play as the children explore chicks, lambs and bunnies. We will also be singing our Song of the Week, “5 Little Ducks,” and sharing our Story of the Week, “That’s Not My Bunny…”, supporting communication and early learning through fun and repetition.

Butterflies Next week, our Butterflies will be enjoying a range of Easter-themed sensory activities! Through play, we will be developing our hand–eye coordination while exploring different textures in our carrot patch messy play tray. During water play, we’ll be singing along to “5 Little Ducks”, supporting early maths skills and language development. The children will also be creating their own Easter cards, using fun techniques such as bunny footprints and egg printing with sponges and potato mashers, while exploring paint and creativity. We’ll be having lots of fun with a peek-a-boo egg hunt, where children will search for hidden eggs and begin to copy simple actions and movements led by adults. Songs of the week: 'Hop Little Bunny' and '5 Little Easter Eggs'. Story of the week: 'That’s Not My Lamb'. Outdoor learning: We’ll be exploring the signs of Spring, looking at flowers, enjoying bubbles and practising our popping skills while learning the word “pop!”.
