New Nursery Opening May 2026

Opening in May 2026 in Cowley, a new nursery is set to provide local families with exceptional early years education and care. Situated at ARC Oxford, Garsington Road Day Nursery will bring together devoted practitioners who share a clear mission; to give children the best possible start in life.

Garsington Road is the third Childbase Partnership setting to open in Oxford, with Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ sister settings Sandfield Day Nursery and Julia Durbin Day Nursery located in nearby Headington. The group was founded in 1989 by Mike Thompson, who recognised that childcare at the time did not always fully meet the needs and aspirations of working parents.

Ranked ‘Number 1’ in league tables for quality and care of education, at Childbase Partnership nurseries, days are filled with exciting activities, carefully planned around children’s individual interests and delivered in line with Early Years Foundation Stage principles. This ensures every child is equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for a seamless transition to school.

The setting has been thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity, with bright and spacious classrooms home to stimulating learning environments featuring state-of-the-art technology, toys and equipment, messy play stations, cosy reading nooks, imaginative role play areas and a children’s shaker-style kitchen for cooking and baking activities.

Sustainability is also woven into daily life, with children of all ages taking part in a curriculum of ‘green’ activities and topics the whole year round, from growing seasonal herbs and vegetables in the garden to creating habitats for wildlife and crafting with natural and recycled materials – therefore nurturing responsible, eco-conscious citizens of the future.
