WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 2ND MARCH 2026

Next week we will be -

Clever Cats and Clever Kittens Next week the Clever Cats and Clever Kittens will be celebrating World Book Day! For this we will be encouraging you to come dressed up as a Julia Donaldson book character on Thursday 5th March. We will also be practising our pencil grip making maps for ‘What The Ladybird Heard’, making silly word soup for ‘Room On The Broom, we will be doing an eat and read for the children to taste what we are reading to the story ‘The Gruffalo'. On our daily miles we will be encouraging the children to collect the perfects sticks so we can do a big walk and head to the canal to play Pooh sticks. 

Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds will be looking at World Book Day! We will be looking at a few Julia Donaldson books including ‘Tiddler’, ‘Zog’ and ‘Gruffalo's Child’. The children will be able to explore in a ‘Tiddler’ inspired water tuff tray while learning the names of the sea animals. We will then be creating our own Gruffalo caves using foam blocks and cardboard developing our hand-eye coordination to see who can make the biggest one! In the home corner we will be exploring in a ‘Zog’ inspired Doctors office and looking after our friends!

Butterflies Next week, in celebration of World Book Day, our baby room will be exploring sensory play inspired by Julia Donaldson stories such as ‘What the Ladybird Heard’, ‘Hippo Has a Hat’, ‘Tiddler’ and ‘Chocolate Mousse for Greedy Goose’. Through farm sound play, dressing-up experiences, food exploration and under-the-sea sensory activities, we will be supporting babies’ listening, attention and early speaking skills. Using simple, repetitive language and allowing time for responses, we encourage the children to point, reach and make sounds to communicate their needs — building strong foundations for language in a fun and meaningful way.
