WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 16TH FEBRUARY 2026

Next week is going to be full of fun, learning and celebrating! We have lots of exciting activities planned for the children, helping them explore different cultures, traditions and important values.

Ramadan

?Next week we will explore Ramadan, a special time for kindness, sharing and caring for others. The children will take part in creative Ramadan crafts to celebrate the festival and learn about giving to others. As Ramadan and Lent begin, we will also be talking about the things we enjoy and how it takes perseverance and “keeping on going” to be successful in giving up something we like. This will be a chance to discuss good choices, healthy choices and less healthy choices, helping the children understand how being thoughtful and making positive choices is important for everyone.

Pancake Day

?It’s Pancake Day! The children will explore pancakes in lots of ways, including counting and measuring ingredients to learn about quantities. We’ll also talk about healthy and less healthy choices for pancake toppings. Of course, there will be plenty of opportunity for tasting and flipping pancakes, with lots of fun and laughter along the way!

Chinese New Year?

We will also be celebrating Chinese New Year. The Butterflies and Ladybirds will focus on the colours red and yellow, exploring red and yellow objects and sensory activities. The Clever Kittens and Clever Cats will have the opportunity to make dragons, lanterns and other crafts. We will also share stories, music and songs to help the children learn about this important festival and its traditions.

Story Focus?

Next week we will be focusing on the story ‘Guess How Much I Love You’, exploring love, kindness and sharing through storytelling and related activities.

Throughout the week, children will develop their creativity, language, social skills and understanding of the world around them. We are excited to celebrate these special events together and encourage the children to explore, learn and have fun!
