Outdoors the children will be practicing their letters and shapes, drawing with chalk on the tarmac! The Cats will also be weaving using different ribbons and trying out Scottish dancing! Our song of the week is ‘The Bear Went Over The Mountain’ and our book of the week is ‘The Dog On A Log.’

Clever Kittens Next week the Clever Kittens will be looking at Burns Night, for this we will be reading “Little Miss Muffet” linking into poems and rhyming. We will also be exploring pencils and which hand is dominate by following a dot to dot of the letter B. Our song of the week is “Hey Diddle Diddle” and our story of the week is “The Gruffalo”.

Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds will be looking at Burns Night and Rhyme week! We will be making our own Scottish flags using blue paint, salt and glue while listening to some Scottish music. The children will be able to explore in the construction area set up with some of their favourite rhymes like ‘Wind the Bobbin Up’ and ‘Old McDonald’! In the cosy book area we will have some poems to read through and be able to explore with the different words and try to add some new words to our vocabulary!

Butterflies Next week in the Baby Room, we will be going on a sensory adventure with the children! In celebration of Burns Night, the babies will be exploring colour, texture and cause and effect by creating their very own fireworks artwork. Using paint, the children will splat and spread it across paper with their hands or little hammers, supporting sensory exploration and fine motor development. The children will take part in a sensory sound and movement experience inspired by fireworks. Using soft musical instruments, shakers and scarves, the babies will explore different sounds and movements, learning about loud and quiet noises. We will also be enjoying nursery rhymes, encouraging the children to copy simple actions and begin using single words. This helps to develop early communication skills, listening and confidence through repetition and fun interactions.
