November has been another productive and heart-warming month at Banana Moon Denmore. With our first birthday behind us and the festive season in full swing, we’ve had plenty to celebrate and reflect on. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Nursery Improvement Plan This month we successfully tied up all loose ends within our Nursery Improvement Plan, ensuring we are moving into the new year with clear goals, strengthened practice, and continued commitment to high-quality care.

Welcoming a New Volunteer We are delighted to share that a new volunteer will be joining us in the new year. They will follow all safer recruitment procedures to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone.

Health & Safety Our recent Health & Safety site visit went very well, and we are pleased with the positive feedback received.

Festive Fun It has been a lovely, busy festive period so far!

The children and staff enjoyed putting up Christmas trees around the nursery. We’ve been proudly selling our home-made reindeer dust and hot chocolate cones, created by the children. Our Christmas party and pyjama day have been planned together, and the children are already excited for the celebrations ahead!

Staff Development

Aberlour Futures joined us to complete a readiness-for-assessment meeting with Mackenzie, who will begin her SSCYP qualification in the new year. Our final two staff members attended the full-day Aberdeen City Council Paediatric First Aid course—this means our entire team is now first aid trained, which is a fantastic achievement. We continue with wellbeing supervisions and are exploring the Managing Stress in the Workplace course to further strengthen our approach to staff wellbeing. Following our first birthday milestone, we have started refresher sessions for core staff training, ensuring everyone stays up to date.

Supporting Families

We have been busy showing prospective parents around and are thrilled to be welcoming many new families when we reopen after Christmas. We held Parents’ Evening throughout the week of 8th December and received lots of positive and encouraging feedback—thank you to everyone who attended. Your support means so much to us.

Ongoing Franchise Support

We continue to engage in our monthly network calls with the Banana Moon Franchise. Declan from the franchise team visited us on site to deliver Room Leader Training, supporting leadership development within our staff team.

Monthly Staff Meetings Our monthly staff meetings remain a valuable opportunity to reflect, plan, and strengthen team communication, and we continue to feel the positive impact of these sessions.
