Community police officers and their dog Jet visited a nursery in County Durham to talk to the children about their job keeping the streets on the area safe.

The police officers, Connor and Claire, popped into Clever Clogs Day Nursery in Bowburn to talk about what they do day to day to help people.

They also brought along their black Labrador Jet who supports the community police team to keep County Durham safe.

Nursery Manager Vicky Harrison said: “The children absolutely loved meeting the police officers and Jet their dog. They all got to stroke him, and he loved all the attention.

“They all enjoyed hearing from the officers about their job and the types of things they do and were especially happy when they were given the chance to try on their hats and coats.

“The older children told the officers what they knew about the police and how their jobs help us, so it was also educational as well as good fun.”

The nursery regularly invites the police in to talk to the children as part of their varied curriculum of learning.
