WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - MAY 5TH

Clever Cats This week in Clever Cats we will be celebrating VE Day and having a picnic in the garden. Don’t forget our stay a play on THURSDAY 8th May 4-5pm. We will also be looking at school and chatting about our feelings going to school. The Clever Cats will be also learning to sign a nursery rhyme ready for Deaf Awareness Week. Our song of the week is ‘The Graduation Song’ and our book of the week is ‘Little Hedgehogs Big Day’.

Clever Kittens This week, we are celebrating the anniversary of VE Day. The children will be making their own decorations, including a bunting and paper flags. They will also participate in various activities, such as making paper aeroplanes, making yummy scones and lots more. Additionally, we will celebrate Deaf Awareness Week by teaching the children some British Sign Language, the children will learn about feelings and how to communicate them with their friends. We will also focus on sun safety awareness, discussing the importance of suncream and wearing appropriate clothing such as hats.  Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds are going to celebrate VE Day and practise their British sign language in line with Deaf Awareness. The children will be exploring and learning to identify the colour ‘Red’, ‘Blue’ and ‘White’ through different activities, using resources with different textures. We will be creating our own buntings using different resources with different textures. In the malleable area the children will be using playdough to make the British flag. During mealtimes, we will be practising our sign language, where the children will be learning ‘more’, ‘please’, ‘thank you’ and ‘enough’. 

Butterflies Next week the Butterflies will be looking at VE Day and Deaf Awareness Week, we will be focusing on learning the sign for “thank you” and “please” and trying to say the words while we sign. We will also be celebrating VE Day by having a picnic in the garden with family and friends! The Butterflies will also be doing some messy play in the tuff tray.
