There was cause for celebration at Lime Grove Day Nursery in Hemel Hempstead as proud practitioners and parents learnt that the setting had achieved an ‘Outstanding’ judgement from Ofsted for the fifth time running, following an inspection in September. An outcome achieved by only 14% of all English Early Years providers, the inspector praised “inspirational leaders” at the setting on Park Road for their support of staff development and training programmes, resulting in the “exceptional care and teaching” delivered to children. In the report, the inspector observed “staff support children's communication skills superbly across all areas of the nursery”, whilst support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities was also credited, with “deep understanding” and “precise care and teaching” allowing “all children to make excellent progress from their starting points”. Practitioners were commended for their “highly effective key-person system”, in turn enabling children to “form exceptionally close bonds with staff, who demonstrate a deep understanding of their individual needs” and “reflect exceptionally well on all aspects of the nursery and on the care children receive”, consistently evaluating feedback from parents. Partnerships with parents were admired by the inspector as being of an “exceptionally high standard”, with carers praising leaders and staff teams for the “wonderful relationships” formed with children and “immense support” offered to families, with staff ensuring they have a “deep knowledge of children prior to starting” at nursery to help them “settle swiftly”. Ofsted Inspector, Antonia Campbell explained; “Throughout their time at this nursery, children remain deeply engaged in a wealth of wonderful learning opportunities. Leaders and staff seize every opportunity to build on children's current interests during the day. Children of all ages form close friendships and are highly respectful of one another. Babies squeal with excitement when their friends approach to play. Older children are polite and kind to one another and adults. They share resources and cooperate well in play.” Lime Grove Day Nursery Manager, Kelly Climpson said; “To be named as five times Outstanding by Ofsted brings us so much joy. I am so proud of my literally outstanding team, and we are over the moon to have received this judgement again. We are so grateful to our hugely supportive network of nursery families; together we are focused on the children’s happiness, and providing them with the best possible start in life.” Lime Grove is part of the employee-owned Childbase Partnership, with 44 award-winning day nurseries throughout England.
