What We Are Learning - 21st October 2024

Clever Cats This week in Clever Cats we will be starting our Halloween celebrations. We will be practicing our letters by writing some spooky words such as bat and witch. The Clever Cats will be getting messy following recipes, to make the correct potions practicing their counting skills! Clever Kittens This week in Clever Kittens we will be doing lots of fun activities to do with Halloween, we will be focusing on using our counting skills to count how many ghosts we can see and seeing if we can recognise any numbers. We will also be carrying on with becoming independent by attempting to put on our own coats and try to fasten up our own zips.  Book of the week; Who's In The Pumpkin? Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds are beginning to celebrate Halloween through some exciting fun activities. The main focus of the week will be on fine motor skills. The children will be exploring the witch's cauldron where they will be finding different objects and different textures. The children will be using their fine motor skills alongside their problem solving skills to save the animals.  We are also going to express different feelings through our book of the week, The Happy Pumpkin.  

Butterflies Next week, we are starting to look at Halloween. We will have our spooky sensory tray, where the children can make their own witches potions using different types of materials. We will be creating spooky pictures with the children and exploring the feel of pumpkins, using our fine and gross motor skills to find ways to move the pumpkins around. We will also be reading a Halloween story called ‘we’re going on a pumpkin hunt’ to listen to some new words we may have not heard before.
