Nursery Deputy Manager – Abi Nursery, Muswell Hill, N10

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience
Position: Full-time

Abi Nursery is looking for an experienced, confident Deputy Manager to support our owner and manager, Abi, with the day-to-day running of our Muswell Hill nursery.

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, leads by example and can be relied upon to keep the nursery running smoothly. You should enjoy supporting staff, building relationships with families and creating a warm, safe and stimulating environment for children.

Our nursery combines thoughtfully designed indoor spaces with a large, secure garden, building on our established background in childcare and caring for very young children.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting Abi with daily nursery operations and taking charge in her absence.

• Taking responsibility for opening and closing the nursery.

• Organising staff deployment, rotas and cover to maintain appropriate supervision and staffing ratios.

• Supervising, mentoring and supporting staff, including helping new team members settle into their roles.

• Welcoming prospective families, conducting nursery tours and supporting the admissions and settling-in process.

• Building positive relationships with parents and handling day-to-day questions or concerns professionally.

• Supporting high standards of care, learning and development across all rooms.

• Helping ensure safeguarding, health and safety, nursery policies and EYFS requirements are followed consistently.

• Overseeing daily records, routines and administrative tasks, and following up on any issues.

• Identifying what needs doing and taking ownership, while keeping Abi informed.

We are looking for someone with:

• A full and relevant Level 3 early years qualification or above.

• Experience as a Deputy Manager, Room Leader or in another nursery leadership role, with the ability to take on wider management responsibilities.

• A strong understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and high-quality early years practice.

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

• The confidence to lead a team, make sound decisions and handle challenges calmly.

• A warm, approachable manner with children, parents and colleagues.

• Reliability, initiative and a practical approach to getting things done.
