Nursery Practitioner

Job Summary:

The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality education and care for children from birth to five years old. The successful candidate will ensure that all children experience the highest standards of care and developmental support. Candidates must hold a relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years, demonstrate understanding of the EYFS statutory framework, and have prior experience working in a nursery setting.

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday, with start and finish times on a rota basis. Total weekly hours: 40.

Holidays:

28 days of paid holiday, including bank holidays.

Salary:

£26,000 – £29,000 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional childcare standards within the setting.

• Foster strong relationships with assigned children, attend to their personal care needs, and support their emotional well-being.

• Maintain awareness of key person responsibilities, including health and safety, food hygiene, safeguarding protocols, paediatric first aid, and fire safety procedures, in accordance with relevant policies.

• Collaborate with parents, carers, family members, and external agencies to meet individual children's needs, respecting parental preferences.

• Plan and implement age-appropriate, engaging activities that support learning and developmental milestones.

• Observe and monitor child progress, document updates in learning journals, and identify next steps for development.

• Ensure child safety, report any welfare or safeguarding concerns promptly, and uphold a clean and safe environment.

• Support colleagues, participate in staff meetings, and adhere to the setting’s policies and procedures.

Candidate Requirements:

• Level 3 Early Years Practitioner qualification or equivalent.

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislative requirements.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and external partners.
