Housekeeper/Cook

We are recruiting for a Housekeeper/Cook for our nursery in Welwyn Garden City. Monday to Friday 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.

• The ideal candidate will have previous cooking experience, ideally in a childcare nursery or school setting
• To be responsible, in conjunction with the Manager, for planning healthy and balanced meals
• To prepare meals according to individual dietary requirements where necessary, with minimum wastage
• Be clear about the regulations relating to allergies and intolerances
• To ensure food and drinks are safely prepared
• To wash up crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals, put these away and clean the kitchen.
• To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessment within the kitchen area, including all record keeping
• To be responsible for food safety within the nursery including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation
• To maintain an agreed high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.
• Cater to the differing dietary needs of different age groups, following food preparation and choking guidelines
• Know the allergies and dietary requirements of the children inside out, ensuring you adhere to all policies and procedures to ensure there is no risk of cross-contamination and that each individual child’s nutritional needs are met
• Responsible for the timely completion of all kitchen paperwork and compliance-related tasks, including a daily kitchen cleaning schedule
• Manage effective stock rotation
• Maintenance and upkeep of the kitchen to a 5-star Food Hygiene rating standard
• Adhering to all Environmental Health industry regulations and requirements
• Be a role model for exceptionally high hygiene standards
• Comply with our procedures relating to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
• Housekeeping duties such as washing down tables and chairs, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing bedding, and hanging out laundry.
