Job Summary
We are looking for a room leader to join our team!
Your role will be to lead and manage a designated room within the nursery, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and caring environment that supports the development of all children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, support, and motivate room staff to deliver high-quality childcare
- Act as a role model for best practice and professionalism
- Support staff development through mentoring and supervision
- Assist with staff rotas and daily organisation of the room
Childcare & Learning
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with EYFS
- Monitor and assess children’s development, maintaining accurate records
- Ensure each child’s individual needs are met, including SEND and safeguarding
- Act as a key person for a group of children
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times
- Promote a safe, clean, and inclusive environment
- Report any concerns regarding child welfare in line with procedures
Parent Partnerships
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers
- Provide regular updates on children’s progress and wellbeing
- Support settling-in processes and transitions
Operational Duties
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, health, and safety
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements and nursery policies
- Contribute to inspections and quality improvement plans
Requirements
Essential:
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of EYFS framework
- Experience working in a nursery setting
- Leadership or senior practitioner experience
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
- Safeguarding training
- Experience with nursery management software
