Job Summary

We are looking for a room leader to join our team!

Your role will be to lead and manage a designated room within the nursery, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and caring environment that supports the development of all children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, support, and motivate room staff to deliver high-quality childcare
  • Act as a role model for best practice and professionalism
  • Support staff development through mentoring and supervision
  • Assist with staff rotas and daily organisation of the room

Childcare & Learning

  • Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with EYFS
  • Monitor and assess children’s development, maintaining accurate records
  • Ensure each child’s individual needs are met, including SEND and safeguarding
  • Act as a key person for a group of children

Safeguarding & Welfare

  • Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Promote a safe, clean, and inclusive environment
  • Report any concerns regarding child welfare in line with procedures

Parent Partnerships

  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers
  • Provide regular updates on children’s progress and wellbeing
  • Support settling-in processes and transitions

Operational Duties

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, health, and safety
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements and nursery policies
  • Contribute to inspections and quality improvement plans

Requirements

Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS framework
  • Experience working in a nursery setting
  • Leadership or senior practitioner experience
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
  • Safeguarding training
  • Experience with nursery management software
