At Leicester Preparatory School, we believe every child deserves to feel understood, supported and inspired to thrive. We are a small, nurturing independent school with a strong sense of community, where children are known as individuals and relationships sit at the heart of school life.
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced and dedicated SENCO Teacher/TA to join our close-knit team. This is a special opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and excited by the chance to make a genuine difference in a small school setting where every child matters.
About the Role:
Working closely with pupils, families and colleagues, you will lead and develop our SEND provision with warmth, expertise and care. You will play an integral role in ensuring that every child receives the support, encouragement and tailored strategies they need to flourish both academically and emotionally.
In our small-school environment, this role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children and families, while helping shape an inclusive culture where strengths are celebrated and differences embraced.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and coordinating SEND provision across the school.
-
Supporting pupils with a range of learning needs through personalised strategies and interventions.
-
Working collaboratively with teachers to create inclusive, engaging classroom experiences.
-
Building trusted partnerships with parents and carers.
-
Liaising with external professionals and agencies where appropriate.
-
Monitoring progress and maintaining SEND documentation and support plans.
-
Contributing to a warm, nurturing school ethos where wellbeing and confidence are prioritised.
We are looking for someone who:
-
Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent or is an experienced TA with an ambition to qualify as a teacher.
-
Has experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and SEMH needs.
-
Brings warmth, patience and a child-centred approach to their work.
-
Values strong relationships and enjoys being part of a small, collaborative team.
-
Is organised, reflective and committed to helping every child reach their potential.
-
Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (desirable, though not essential).
What We Offer:
-
A chance to be part of a school with a clear and ambitious vision.
-
A welcoming, supportive and close-knit school community.
-
Small class sizes and the opportunity to know each child well.
-
A nurturing working environment where staff wellbeing matters.
-
Opportunities for paid training, professional growth and development.
-
The chance to play a meaningful role in shaping inclusive practice within the school.
If you share our passion for creating an environment where every
child can thrive, we would love to hear from you.
