Blue Butterfly Montessori is a premium Montessori nursery providing high-quality early years education and care within nurturing, child-centred environments. We are looking for a passionate and organised Kitchen Chef / Kitchen Assistant to support our commitment to children’s health, wellbeing, and development through freshly prepared, nutritious meals.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a warm, supportive, and professional nursery team focused on safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion, and excellence in early years practice.
The Role
You will be responsible for preparing healthy, balanced meals and snacks for children aged 3 months to 5 years while maintaining exceptional food hygiene, health & safety, and Environmental Health standards.
You will work closely with the Nursery Management Team and Educators to ensure all dietary, allergy, cultural, and individual needs are safely supported within a fully inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh, nutritious, and balanced meals daily
- Support children with allergies, dietary, medical, and cultural requirements
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen compliance standards
- Ensure safe food preparation, storage, stock rotation, and labelling
- Complete kitchen cleaning and food safety documentation
- Work in line with safeguarding, health & safety, and Ofsted requirements
- Contribute positively to a caring and professional staff culture
- Support children’s wellbeing through healthy eating practices
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is passionate about children’s health and nutrition
- Has excellent organisation and time management skills
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Works well within a team environment
- Has experience within a nursery, school, or catering setting (preferred)
- Holds a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred)
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and child welfare
