Learning Curve Day Nursery is looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Level 2 or 3 Nursery Practitioner to join its friendly team. You will be working with babies through to preschool age children, helping them develop core skills by engaging them in fun and explorative activities. We love the great outdoors and encourage our children to be curious so they’re not just ready for school, but life beyond that too! 

From 24th April, we are launching our very own Forest School, marking an exciting new adventure for our nursery. Our Forest School will offer children regular opportunities to learn, explore and grow within a natural outdoor environment, supporting curiosity, confidence, resilience and a strong connection to nature.

Hours: 20 - 40 hours per week, 4.5 days Year round role. 

Contract type: Permanent role

Salary: £13.25 - £13.45 ph / £27,560.00 - £27976.00 pa

Job Description:

Main duties

Reporting into: Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager, you will be expected to: 

  • Plan and deliver a range of age appropriate activities focusing on each individual child’s interests
  • Maintain the children's development, progress & observation records with the support of the Room Leader
  • To develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents/carers to fully integrate the children into the Nursery
  • Work with all staff in promoting good staff practices 

Person Specification:

Essential skills:

  • Interest in caring for, or working with children aged 0-5
  • A confident communicator with excellent listening skills 
  • A passion for delivering fun and creative activities suitable for early education
  • A positive, hard-working, can-do attitude
  • A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities
  • Willing to develop imaginative ideas
  • Enthusiastic about the benefits of outdoor learning
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues and confidential information 
  • Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the Nursery’s ethos is fulfilled
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal working hours (Parent Open Days)

Desirable skills:

  • Previous experience of working in a nursery or childcare environment
  • A completed Level 2 or 3 Childcare qualification
  • Working knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, child protection and child development
  • Experience or an understanding of key worker principles and experience of recording and observations
  • Knowledge of the National Standards for the regulation of childcare provision
