Job summary

ACCOUNTABLE TO:  Nursery Manager / Deputy Nursery Manager

HOURS:  30 hours per week – Monday to Friday, all year round/ term time, hours: 10.30 - 17.30

Responsibilities include:

1. To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with The Food Hygiene (England) Regulations, 2006.; empty the kitchen bin and disposing the waste appropriately.

2.  To ensure management and implementation of safe working procedures and practices in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.

3.  Deep clean the kitchen cupboards, fridge/ freezer, microwave and high/ low level dusting every 2 weeks.

4. To prepare snack as agreed with the management team, observing children’s special dietary needs where appropriate.

5.  To decant and portion the meals delivered by Care Catering for both rooms.

6.  Take and record food temperature for meals delivered by Care Catering.

7. To deliver food/ snack, crockery/ cutlery to both rooms.

8.   Clean the rooms (tables. Chairs. Floor) after lunch .

9.  To undertake other duties, as may be necessary from time-to-time, e.g. sweeping the pavement, wiping surfaces (tables, windows, doors, floors as directed by the management.

10.  Wash all utensils, crockery & cutlery after snacks/ meals either handwashing or using the dish washer.

11. Assist with the nursery laundry including washing, drying and storage.

12. Ensure there is sufficient stock levels of cutlery, crockery and equipment and placing orders with the management team as necessary ensuring there is no shortage.

13. Monitor stock and ensure there is sufficient supply of breakfast cereals and dry cupboard items to ensure that the snack menus are executed without delays; to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past "use-by" dates.

14. Be aware and comply with all COSHH documents and their contents.

15. Attend Supervision sessions and other nursery meetings as required.

16.   Undertake and participate in statutory training requirements including food safety and safeguarding.

17. Comply with the nursery policies and procedures.
