About the Role

As our Nursery Manager, you will lead the setting with a strong focus on excellence, quality improvement, and professional growth. You’ll model outstanding practice, drive high standards across all rooms, and create a culture where staff are motivated, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on developing others, embedding best practice, and ensuring every child receives the highest-quality care and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the setting to deliver consistently high-quality early years provision
  • Champion exceptional adult–child interactions and purposeful teaching
  • Embed best practice aligned with EYFS, Ofsted expectations, and current research
  • Drive staff development through coaching, supervision, and performance management
  • Monitor quality through learning walks, observations, and audits
  • Ensure a well-sequenced, ambitious curriculum that supports strong progress
  • Maintain a culture of accountability, professionalism, and excellence
  • Oversee safeguarding, welfare, and statutory compliance
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and the wider community
  • Ensure the setting remains inspection-ready at all times

What Outstanding Leadership Looks Like

  • High standards embedded across all rooms
  • Strong, improving staff practice supported by effective coaching
  • Purposeful, language-rich interactions
  • Clear evidence of improved outcomes for children
  • A setting on a continuous journey of improvement

About You

We’re looking for a leader who is:

  • Experienced in early years leadership and passionate about quality
  • Skilled at coaching, inspiring, and challenging staff
  • Knowledgeable in early years pedagogy and best practice
  • Reflective, strategic, and improvement-driven
  • Confident in maintaining high expectations and addressing underperformance
  • Committed to safeguarding and children’s wellbeing

Non-Negotiables

  • High standards at all times
  • Immediate action on weak practice
  • Relentless focus on children’s experiences and outcomes
  • Commitment to continuous improvement

If this sounds like you…

You’ll thrive in this role and play a pivotal part in shaping a setting where excellence is the everyday standard, and every child receives the very best start.
