Job Description
· The Deputy Manager must have the relevant skills to support the management of Spring Park Nursery within the ethos, implementation and legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
· Duties -
The Deputy Manager will go about their duties with honesty and integrity and ensure the nursery needs are always met and take precedence.
The Deputy Manager's main role is to support the Manager in all aspects of Nursery matters. They must be conversant with all Spring Park Policies and Procedures.
The Deputy Manager must be able to manage the nursery is the absence of the Manager.
They must work as part of the staff team and liaise between the Staff and the Manager.
· Statutory Requirements-
The Deputy must work with the Manager to ensure the nursery complies with the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.
They must ensure good practice as set out in the EYFS Statutory Framework and they must ensure compliance with all relevant statutory regulations, for example, Health and Safety Law and Employment Law.
When deputising, the Deputy Manager must execute the responsibilities of a Nursery Manager according to all lawful and ethical standards. The Manager has responsibility for the nursery, including out-of-hours, if necessary.
· Attendance –Management must ensure that a Manager or Deputy or Third in Charge is always present in the nursery during opening hours. The Manager and Deputy must cover each other’s duties should either of them be absent.
Due to the seniority of the role, it is expected that the Deputy will have high level of attendance.
· Staff-
The Deputy Manager must provide leadership for the staff. They must always maintain a professional manner providing a good role model for staff during work hours and out of work hours. They must maintain a professional manager’s distance from staff during work hours and out of work hours.
The Deputy must ensure that nursery records are kept honestly and accurately. Deputy must be courteous and helpful. Planning and Development.
The Deputy must attend regular nursery staff meetings at least 6 -8 weeks out of normal hours of work and also Management Team meetings and be involved with training matters. They are expected to attend relevant events, meetings and training courses when necessary.

Skills / Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 3 Early Years Qualifcation
