Job summary

Three Gables Nursery is seeking a dedicated and experienced Baby Room Lead to oversee the care and development of babies up to 2 years old within our warm and welcoming childcare setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for babies aged 0–2 years, ensuring the highest standards of childcare are consistently maintained.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise the Baby Room team, providing clear guidance and support to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support developmental milestones and early learning for babies up to 2 years old.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and safeguarding of all children aged 0–2 years, adhering strictly to health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, communicating effectively about their child’s progress, needs, and daily experiences.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children’s development, attendance, and any incidents or concerns.
  • Organise and manage the daily routine, including feeding, sleeping, and playtimes, ensuring consistency and comfort for babies and young toddlers.
  • Support staff development and training, fostering a positive, collaborative, and professional team environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with all nursery policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership or management experience within a childcare or nursery setting.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and best practice in caring for babies and toddlers up to 2 years old.
  • Experience working directly with children aged 0–2 years within a nursery environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively while maintaining a caring and supportive approach.
  • A relevant childcare qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent) is preferred.
  • A valid driving licence is advantageous.
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to early childhood development.
