Nursery Assistant 

£26,291.20 per annum. 

40 hours per week

The Kentish Town Day Nursery & Preschool is a bright and nurturing space where children aged 3 months to 5 years grown. play and discovery the joy of learning. Nestled on Ryland Road, just off Prince of Wales Road and a short stroll from Kentish Town West, Kentish Town and Chalk Farm Stations, our nursery is set on the ground floor of a charming former school, featuring light-filled rooms and a lovely garden where children can safely play. explore nature and build friendships. With a strong focus on community and family, we even host a popular cooking club where we share delicious, wholesome recipes with parents - bringing everyone together through the love of good food. 

We are currently seeking a Nursery Assistant to join our Preschool room. This part-time role requires working 40 hours per week, with various shift patterns between the opening and closing times of the nursery. Please note, this is a year-round position, as the nursery operates throughout the year and is not term-time only.

Duties and responsibilities*:

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent and visitor at all times
  • Understand the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS and staff:child ratios
  • Provide engaging and purposeful experiences, environments and resources to children, that are appropriate to their age and stage of development
  • Facilitate a strong key person approach to enable children to form secure attachments and cover all children daily when colleagues are absent
  • Observe and support children’s development, update the EyLog system and children’s learning journals with accuracy and relevance, and seek guidance from colleagues or Room Leader if in doubt
  • Provide the all-around daily needs of children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development

You will need:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English - essential
  • Over 6 months experience of working with children - essential
  • Knowledge of the Statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements - desirable
