Job summary
Little Jewels is a small, friendly, multicultural Pre-school, situated close to Harringay Station. We pride ourselves on preparing our children for primary school, are held in high regard by the local community and achieved a Good at the last OFSTED inspection.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Deputy Manager to support the effective day-to-day running of our preschool. The successful candidate will assist the Preschool Manager in leading the team, ensuring high standards of care and education, and creating a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for all children.
Main Responsibilities
- To promote and create a stimulating and educational environment to encourage the children to develop independence and self-reliance.
- To assist the Preschool Manager in overseeing the day to day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the Preschool.
- To implement the philosophy of LJP and to create a welcoming and family friendly environment.
- To be a member of the management team and to contribute to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and development of the Preschool.
- To supervise the development, preparation and execution of the daily activities and ensure that each session runs smoothly and without repetition.
- To contribute at all times for high standards of care and education of children between 0 to five years in accordance with statutory requirements.
- To develop and promote the EYFS and ensure its delivery within the setting and that the principles adhered to.
- To assist in the recruitment and induction of newly employed staff and the regular supervision of existing staff.
- To ensure effective communication between the staff and with all partner organisations.
- To seek out and maintain equipment and resources in the Preschool
- To assist in the day to day financial systems directly relating to the provision.
- To ensure admissions are in line with the admissions policy and that all new children receive the appropriate induction and settling programme.
- To supervise all staff in the assessment process of each child, by ensuring that all assessments drafted are presented to the parent/guardian with in a specific time period
- To observe, and prepare a written assessments of the progress of each key child.
- To contribute in maintaining a register and up to date records of all children using the provision and to ensure regular feedback to parents about their child’s development and progress.
- To participate and where necessary organise and execute regular management and staff meetings.
- To actively participate in ensuring the maintenance of a healthy and safe environment for the children.
- To ensure all duties and responsibilities are carried out with due regards to our equal opportunities policy.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Education/Qualification: Level 4 Early Years Qualification (inclucing baby module) or accepted equivalent
- Early Years Foundation Stages
- Practical experience of day-care establishement
- Relevant legislation and ability to implement policies and procedures
- Ofsted Inspection Process
- Purposeful planning for children in daycare setting
