Job summary
Little Jewels is a small, friendly, multicultural Pre-school, situated close to Haringey Station. We pride ourselves on preparing our children for primary school, are held in high regard by the local community and achieved a Good at the last OFSTED inspection.
We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking staff to deliver our commitment to good quality childcare and to advance our grading against the National Standards.
Hours of work: 08:00 – 18:00 (4 days per week)

Purpose of Job
To support the nursery managers and seniors.
To provide a

To be responsible for a group of key children
Main Responsibilities
- To promote and create a stimulating and educational environment to encourage the children to develop independence and self-reliance.
- To assist the Preschool Deputy in overseeing the day-to-day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the Preschool.
- To implement the philosophy of LJP and to create a welcoming and family friendly environment.
- To assist the management team by contributing to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and development of the Preschool.
- To supervise the development, preparation and execution of the daily lesson plans and ensure that each session runs smoothly and without repetition.
- To always contribute a high standard of care and education of children between 12 months and five years in accordance with statutory requirements.
- To develop and promote the EYFS and ensure its delivery within the setting and that the principles are adhered to.
- To ensure effective communication between the staff and with all partner organisations.
- To seek out and maintain equipment and resources in the Preschool
- To comply with the admissions policy and ensure that all new children receive the appropriate induction and settling programme.
- To observe and prepare written assessments of the progress of each key child.
- To contribute to maintaining a register and up to date records of all children using the provision and to ensure regular feedback to parents about their child’s development and progress.
- To actively participate in ensuring the maintenance of a healthy and safe environment for the children.
Skills / Qualifications:
- • Level 3 Early Years qualification
- 1-3 Years post qualifying experience of which at least 3 months to 1 year as a supervisor or a room leader.
- • Able to Deputise in the absence of a Manager
- • Experience of managing day to day paper work
- • Has had key children and is able to do weekly planning
- • Is able to set up stimulating and challenging activities for the children
- • Understands the seven areas of learning and the three characteristics
- • Understands and is able to deliver two year old progress check
- • Knowledge of Foundation Stage curriculum
- • Ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of people
- • Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently
