Job summary
Role: To contribute to a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the setting, ensuring that all needs are met within the daily routine and supporting other personnel within the setting.
Personal Attributes: This job is suited to someone who is an effective communicator working within a team, using their initiative to create a caring, nurturing and stimulating environment for the children in their care. They will need a professional approach to both staff and parents, with a commitment to support the Managers.
Responsible to: Manager / Deputy Manager
Duties:
- Caring for young children, attending and ensuring their needs are met.
- Contribute to the planning and organisation of learning activities, supporting and engaging the children in play, activities or other learning opportunities.
- Supporting, shadowing and contributing in observing children and creating next steps for them to be implemented into planning.
- Supervising children within a clean and safe environment, adhering to the Health & Safety Policy.
- Uphold standards by adhering to the setting’s policies and procedures, ensuring diversity, inclusion, safeguarding of children and confidentiality are all maintain to the highest standards.
- Supporting and shadowing in updating and maintaining records, e.g. daily records, accident forms etc.
- Working effectively within a team, supporting staff, and using their own initiative to contribute to the daily running of the room.
- Being flexible within their role, supporting the setting where required, as well as contributing to domesticated chores within the setting.
- Being proactive and motivated within the team, showing professionalism at all times to staff, parents and visitors to the setting.
- Showing confidence in liaising with staff, parents and management on a daily basis.
- Working alongside and supporting other local authorities, representatives of Poplar school, or other external agencies.
- Attending regular staff meetings as well as any professional development training , webinars and workshops as required.
Skills / Qualifications:
- • NVQ3 or above or equivalent in Early Years Qualifications • Minimum of at least 2 years experience in a similar role
