Play is at the heart of the nursery's approach. Age-appropriate Baby, Toddler, and Pre-School Rooms provide engaging environments where children investigate, experiment, create, and learn through hands-on experiences. Children enjoy a balance of child-led and supported activities, with learning indoors and outdoors each day.
Physical development is encouraged through outdoor play and equipment including scooters, bikes, and climbing frames. Professional sports activity coordinators visit each setting twice a week, providing additional opportunities for exercise, movement, and confidence building. Each child has a designated Key Person who provides continuity, security, and emotional support. Practitioners help children develop communication, independence, and positive relationships while supporting emotional understanding and self-management.
Fenwood Nursery promotes inclusion, equality and respect for every child and family. Dedicated SEND Leads coordinate support for children with additional needs, with individual adaptations and enhanced staffing where appropriate.
Healthy eating and positive hygiene habits are part of daily life, with freshly prepared nutritious meals, water, and milk provided. Fenwood Nursery was awarded the Healthy Foundations Gold Award in 2021.

My little boy has been going to Fenwood Mapplewell since September 2025. He was a shy little boy with very little spoken word.
Now he is thriving and his language has come on leaps and bounds with the help of the staff at Fenwood, particularly his key workers and the help of the communication...
My little boy has been going to Fenwood Mapplewell since September 2025. He was a shy little boy with very little spoken word. Now he is thriving and his language has come on leaps and bounds with the help of the staff at Fenwood, particularly his key workers and the help of the communication leader. The food is healthy, the communication between staff and parents is brilliant, particularly through the app they use to communicate with, I 100% feel like my little boy is safe when he is there. They do regular activities with the children, they keep things fun, themed and my little boy genuinely loves to go. The staff are also really good at supporting parents/carers too, particularly through difficult times and are always on hand for support.
I am so glad I chose Fenwood Mapplewell for my little boy. His development has progressed so much and I can't thank them enough for playing their part in that.

My daughter has been attending fenwood since September and Carla and Adele have been brilliant at communicating and ensuring she was gradually settled into the setting. All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming and Emily, Shireen and Megan have taken such care to comfort my daughter when she needed support when first starting nursery. They organise lots of different activities for the children and you can tell the staff genuinely care. The rest room for the children is the best I've seen at a nursery and means the children have an opportunity for a sleep during the day.
