Accommodating up to 65 children each day, the nursery is organised into age-appropriate rooms that support every stage of early development. Experienced practitioners create engaging learning opportunities through play, helping children build confidence, independence and a lifelong enthusiasm for learning. Activities are planned around individual interests while supporting key areas of the Early Years Stage.
Children enjoy bright, well-equipped indoor spaces alongside access to outdoor play, where they can be active, investigate the natural world and develop important physical and social skills. A varied daily routine encourages creativity, communication, problem-solving and positive relationships, ensuring every day is both enjoyable and enriching.
Each child is supported by a dedicated key person who works closely with families to understand their individual needs and celebrate their progress. Regular updates, learning journals, reports and parent meetings help maintain strong partnerships between home and nursery.
Summers Nurseries has been caring for young children since 2004, with the Victoria Street nursery opening in 2007. As part of an established nursery group, the setting benefits from experienced leadership, continuous staff development and the sharing of best practice across all locations, while maintaining its own friendly, community-focused atmosphere. Summers Nursery @ Victoria Street provides the most wonderful, safe and nurturing environment for my 4 year old son. He has attended the nursery since he was about 10months old and I cannot speak highly enough about the staff that love and care for the children there. As an anxious mama, I trust the staff there with my everything; my boy. The nursery provides wonderful nutrition for my fussy-at-home boy. He eats food there that blows my mind. The food is varied and nutritious. He never goes hungry. The staff provide wonderful activities that stretch and enrich my son's knowledge and understanding of the world. From growing and releasing their own butterflies, to learning numbers and letters, I thank them so much for providing him with an early education. The manager, Emma, is present and so on-the-ball. She clearly has high expectations and you can trust that everything is taken care of. As well as this, she is so friendly and welcoming.
Summers is a home-away-from-home.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your lovely review. It fills us with joy to care for your wonderful little boy at Summers Nursery, Victoria Street. It is a pleasure to see him go from strength to strength with his eating, as we take great pride in our quality and variety of food which is prepared and cooked on site by our own cook. We love to focus on literacy and numeracy, providing fun and challenging activities, and we always aim to provide a variety of resources which encourage each child's curiosity, helping them to learn and develop through play. We are very grateful to you for your kind comments about our staff, and also about Emma, our manager. Emma is so passionate and positive about her job, and she is always very keen to initiate change in order to maintain and develop the high standard of the nursery.

We have been using Summers for our childcare since January 2023 and we have always had a wonderful experience. Two of our children currently attend and our third will attend from next year. The managament and staff truly make Summers so special, everyone is caring, kind and friendly and I know my children are really happy at nursery and being very well looked after. Every day is different and involves a mix of indoor and outdoor activities which are well planned based on the current theme/focus and are always fun while still helping children to learn and develop too. The nursery itself is decorated brightly with kids arts, crafts and photos making it really welcoming for children. We genuinely could not recommend Summers more!

My daughter started at Summers Nursery in January, and as parents, we were naturally anxious about how she would settle in. We needn't have worried! The staff have been exceptional, and their person-centred care is brilliant.

My daughter started at Summers Nursery in January, and as parents, we were naturally anxious about how she would settle in. We needn't have worried! The staff have been exceptional, and their person-centred care is brilliant.
Each week, we see her confidence growing and her cognitive abilities heighten. There is always an engaging activity happening, and the team goes out of their way to create a warm, family-like environment.
One day, I went to pick her up and she answered the door alongside the manager, having just gone to explore the rest of the nursery together! It was so lovely to see them going above and beyond. I highly recommend this nursery!

Emma is the Manager at Victoria Street. She has always had a passion for working in childcare from a young age. Emma has over 17 years of experience, 15 of which have been with Summers Nurseries, where she worked her way up from an apprentice to Manager.
Emma has completed her BA in Childhood Practice at Aberdeen University, which has given her a greater insight into child development.
The thing she loves most about childcare is watching little personalities develop and consistently being amazed at just how incredible each and every child is as they develop. She takes great pleasure in getting to know each of the families who attend the setting, ensuring she provides a warm and welcoming environment.
