Crossway Park Nursery in Caldicot offers wholesome and nurturing care and education to children age 2- 4 years, in a purposeful, inspiring and stimulating environment. The nursery supports a holistic approach to learning, allowing children to play, learn and grow at their own pace, with skilled and patient practitioners on hand, to gently encourage and challenge new skills.

Crossway Town Nursery is a designated under 2 building, and offers the same approach to care and learning. Babies and young toddlers are cared for in a much smaller, homely environment, where there are opportunities for multi sensory play, sleep, rest and age appropriate play and learning experiences, with nurturing practitioners on hand to carefully follow daily routines and offer security and comfort whilst at nursery.

Crossway Nursery and Preschool, is a designated 10 place preschool for children age 3-4, and offers exciting learning experiences, in a much smaller setting, perfect for children who might find a larger nursery a little daunting. The nursery supports a holistic approach to early education, where children learn through play, in a purposeful and carefully considered environment, with skilled practitioners on hand to gently challenge and encourage new skills and learning.

All 3 settings are located in the centre of Caldicot, within a couple of minutes' walk of each other.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Crossway Park Nursery is a wonderful setting and well-maintained nursery. Staff are caring, friendly and approachable. Both of my children have been to Crossway and have had only the most positive experience. Activities are fun and led by play whilst helping to teach the fundamental skills. My children
have gained so much confidence since starting nursery and developed their social skills to help them form lasting friendships. I would recommend Crossway to anyone looking for a nursery.

I am very greatful for all the help and support. My daughter loves the nursery, always happy to go. Her language developed, from a shy girl to a chatterbox. Lots of activities, involving parents. Good feedback system, healthy meals. And the staff are brilliant. My eldest daughter also attended one of
the Crossway nursery so it was an easy choice for our second one.

The Crossway Park Team have created a calm, welcoming and engaging learning environment which my child has thrived in. They have created a fabulous new outdoor space for the children to explore and enjoy together. Through the interesting, creative and practical activities they plan, they have supported
my child in developing skills in all areas. Staff communicate regularly via an app sharing images and updates on what the children have been doing each week. They engage with the local community and often take the children out to explore, as well as inviting visitors in. The staff are friendly, caring and positive and take their time to get to know the children as individuals. As a result, they have a great relationship with my child and he loves going to nursery each day. I highly recommend Crossway Park and we are very grateful for the brilliant experiences they've given our child in his early years .

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.597)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.597) out of 10 for Crossway Park Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.972 for Crossway Park Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.972
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Crossway Park Nursery is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 number of registered child places is 8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.375
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
