The original Shepherds Huts Outdoor Day Nursery opened in August 2018. The nursery has been a great success having won numerous awards, on both a local and national level, and has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted in their most recent inspection (October 2021).

Due to the success of the nursery, demand for places is high and the waiting list, just like the children, doesn't stop growing!

For that reason, the company has decided to open a second site, at the iconic Peterley Manor farm in Prestwood.

Through the magic of the beautiful outdoor setting, they combine child care with education allowing children to flourish and grow as individuals. Providing a foundation upon which children can learn whilst nurturing their personal and social development.

With up to 80 per cent of the day spent outdoors and through a diverse range of activities, children that attend the nursery have the opportunity to become well-rounded individuals. The forest school ethos within a nursery setting is proven to:

* build self-esteem
* encourage independence
* grow knowledge of the “world around them”
* promote and instil the benefits of teamwork
* ensure children have fun whilst meeting the essential requirements of the EYFS framework

Along with the combination of the unique setting and a high adult to child ratio, children are both inspired and engaged to develop their own characters and self-confidence. The staff are qualified and experienced and will always ensure the children have their undivided care, support and encouragement.

I have sent both my children to Shepherds Hut from when they were tiny and my eldest has now been attending for over 3 years. There is no where I would feel safer sending my little ones. I know that the staff here are completely commited to making every day at nursery 'the best day.' The entire ethos
enables every child to thrive and we couldn't be luckier to have been a part of this wonderful place!

Shepherd's Hut Nursery - Great Missenden is Truly Outstanding
We couldn't be happier with the exceptional care and nurturing environment at Shepherd's Hut Nursery. Our 3-year-old absolutely loves attending-she walks in each morning with a huge smile and comes home even more joyful.
The staff are not
only incredibly friendly and welcoming but also highly attentive and professional. They have gone above and beyond to support our daughter, who has specific medical needs. Understandably, this has made us anxious in the past, but the team at Shepherd's Hut immediately put us at ease.
They worked closely with our nurse, listened carefully to every detail, and implemented the guidance with confidence and care. Their dedication and high standards have made us feel completely reassured, knowing our daughter is in such capable and compassionate hands.
We cannot recommend Shepherd's Hut Nursery highly enough-it's an outstanding setting where children truly thrive.
