Purposeful, exciting and creative activities encourage gross and fine motor skills, develop pre-phonological skills and lay the foundations for thinking skills, giving the children a head start to their learning.
Meaningful partnerships with parents mean even the smallest worries are dealt with and reassurance given.
Access to facilities galore including a purpose-built sensory and climbing area, all weather play spaces, nature areas for exploring and lots of integrated technology like light boxes, codapillars and iPads. The children are outside as much as possible and have regular Forest School and sound walks around the school grounds.
When the time comes, there is a seamless transition into Reception which comes from a joined-up curriculum spanning ages 2 to 11 years, familiarity with routines, staff and buildings and a sense of already belonging to the community.
The school and nursery are rated 'Excellent in all areas' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (March 2023).
Parking for visitors is available in the car park at the front of the main school building, in surrounding streets or in the school's Orchard Car Park nearby.

Reigate St Mary's Prep and Nursery School has been the perfect setting for our daughter. It has a welcoming and caring family atmosphere with great facilities. She settled almost immediately despite not being in childcare previously and has made some lovely friendships. The staff have been great at letting us know how she is getting on and answering any questions we may have. You can tell straight away they genuinely care about the children. Our daughter loves going to nursery and enjoys learning through play. There are a mix of activities, great outdoor space (her favourite) and extra “classes”, such as music, dance and playball that they can get involved with. She has really come on with her language skills and is currently enjoying learning the early stages of phonics.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and hope she continues to be this happy throughout the remainder of the school.

Our son started at Kindergarten entry and we were so impressed with everything: from the curriculum, the great facilities he used weekly as part of his school week (the school library to borrow books, Spanish with the Spanish teacher, PE in the sports hall, IT lessons in the IT lab) and all the wonderful staff. He loved going to Kindergarten and kept asking me if it was a school day.
This has definitely paid off as he is now a very happy chappy, who seems to have transitioned to reception at Reigate St. Mary's stress-free and drama-free!

The Early Years Team at Reigate St. Mary's are so good at what they do. They create a caring, nurturing environment that the children really do enjoy and absolutely thrive within. Our daughter loved going to Kindergarten so much, she couldn't wait for Monday morning. We wanted to give our daughter the best start in life that we could and I can honestly say Reigate St Mary's absolutely deliver in every area. When I dropped my daughter off in the morning, I did so confident in the knowledge she would be loved and cared for and she would enjoy her time at school.
She was encouraged every day to try new things (have a go hippo). She learnt through so many different child-led activities (choosing chimp) and was so productive too (busy bee).
What's so great about the way the nursery works is that the children are having so much fun they don't even realise they are laying the solid academic foundations for Reception and beyond. Fantastic nursery - highly recommended.

As Head of Lower School, I love to see the children grow and develop and an important part of my role at RSM is to get to know each one of them really well as they progress through the year groups.
I like to build genuine partnerships with parents too, and most mornings and afternoons you will find me at the school gate or in the playground, as a familiar face to greet Early Years families.
I am always available in person or on the phone to talk through any worries or concerns and I host weekly coffee mornings for each year group, so parents have a regular forum to discuss different aspects of life at our school.
I work with a fantastic team of warm and caring teachers and teaching assistants. We focus on making sure each child feels happy and secure because, ultimately, we know that happy children learn. The days in Early Years are filled with exciting adventures designed to harness the children’s natural curiosity and make them enthusiastic and happy learners, eager to come to school.
Our wonderful classrooms and dedicated Early Years playgrounds, as well as a whole 15 acres of trim trails and nature areas, provide endless hours of fun and enjoyment.
