Lakehouse Day Nursery is an Ofsted rated Outstanding setting (February 2022), located in the charming coastal town of Portishead. The nursery offers high-quality care and early education for children aged 3 months to 5 years in a nurturing, inspiring environment.

Established in 2011, Lakehouse Day Nursery is set within a beautiful Victorian property, featuring spacious indoor rooms and large, well-established gardens. The nursery has four thoughtfully designed playrooms, each offering a wide range of experiences and resources tailored to support children’s curiosity, creativity and development at every stage.

Outdoor learning is a key part of daily life at Lakehouse. The nursery is just a short walk from the nearby lake and open green spaces, giving children regular opportunities to explore nature, observe local wildlife and enjoy fresh air. Children also take pride in helping to grow the nursery’s own fruit and vegetables, supporting healthy living and an understanding of where food comes from.

All meals, snacks and nappies are included, giving parents peace of mind. The experienced and dedicated team create a welcoming, homely atmosphere where children feel safe, valued and supported to thrive.

Our experience with Lakehouse has always been very positive. The communication is always prompt and professional, the staff are helpful and always cheery and smiley. Our child seems very happy and we feel he is well cared for during his time at nursery.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2024

I joined Lakehouse in August 2024, and I have enjoyed every bit of working here. I started working in childcare in 2014, working as a bank practitioner in a nursery. Since 2014, I have worked in a wide range of roles, such as a room leader, 1:1 SEN support and deputy manager. I currently hold a BA (Hons) in Early Years Education, which I completed in 2020. My approach to childcare is a child-centred approach, which means that the children are the forefront of my practice and around recognising every child as a unique individual. This approach is followed through into our curriculum and daily practice at Lakehouse. I enjoy working in childcare as no day is the same; it’s always exciting and different. I love to watch the children grow and develop, and in recent years, I have enjoyed watching my team grow in confidence, and this feeds into their practice.
