Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, the nursery offers a blend of adult- and child-led activities designed to support communication, language, physical, social and emotional development. Children are encouraged to become curious, independent, and confident learners, developing the knowledge and skills needed for a smooth transition into Pre-Prep at age four and to continue their educational journey through Prep.
From the start, children and their families are welcomed into the wider school community. The nursery works closely with parents and carers, taking time to understand each child’s personality, interests and individual needs. This close partnership helps create a reassuring, home-from-home experience.
Learning happens through purposeful experiences indoors and outdoors, allowing children to explore, investigate, and develop an understanding of the world around them. The dedicated EYFS outdoor area provides a natural setting for play and discovery, with opportunities to dig, plant, grow, and explore the garden and woodland.
Healthy eating is also an important part of nursery life. The school’s kitchen team prepares fresh lunches on site, with varied menus that can accommodate specific dietary requirements. A healthy mid-morning snack includes options such as fruit, vegetables, breadsticks and crackers. Mealtimes provide opportunities to talk about nutritious choices while encouraging good table manners and independence.

Overall Experience
Minibeasts nursery allowed our daughter a fantastic start in a school environment. She enjoyed the social aspects of the day and adored the staff who got to know her so well. All of the children were really seen as individuals and their needs and interests catered to in such a caring manner.

Minibeasts nursery allowed our daughter a fantastic start in a school environment. She enjoyed the social aspects of the day and adored the staff who got to know her so well. All of the children were really seen as individuals and their needs and interests catered to in such a caring manner. Our daughter loved the snacks and school dinners which were provided each day, and always looked forward to the PE and music sessions. We loved to see the artwork which came home and the snippets of the day shared on the Tapestry app.
She loved her two years in the Caterpillars and Butterflies nursery and we have now decided to keep her in the school as she was so settled - it made for an easy transition in September!
