Southwater Village Hall Pre-School opened as a charity in June 1974.
It is still the only non-profit-making pre-school in the village of Southwater. The Pre School is a member of the Early Years Alliance, a national body dedicated to the provision of childcare.
Southwater Village Hall Pre School aims to provide your child with a safe, caring environment in which they can be encouraged to learn through play and planned activities These activities are guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
All children in the early years need a safe and stimulating environment. The Pre School aims to provide children with great care and attention from qualified staff, as well as volunteer parent helpers.
Sessions are organised so that children can choose from, and work at, a variety of activities and, in doing so, build up their ability to select and work through a task to completion. The children are also helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities, which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others.
Parents are seen as partners in providing care and education for their children.

About this price
How the monthly figure is calculated.More info
- We work out the total cost across the year and divide by 12, so the figure shown is a smoothed monthly average. In practice, nurseries bill in different ways. Some bill monthly at this average. Others bill weekly, or charge for what happened that week or month, which can vary across the year. Confirm billing details with the nursery when you enquire.

All the staffs are friendly, caring and super supportive. My son also feels particularly safe with his key worker.
They have a good range of activities and understands what my son enjoys. They provide clear and great communication, progress summaries and we love the daily updates and pictures of my son.
Since starting preschool, my son's communication, social skills and physical development has improved a lot, all thanks to the amazing support from the staffs with the use of tailored activities and development plans.
We also loved the Christmas party and sports day, which we were able to create such beautiful memories for him to look back on. We absolutely love the Mother's Day and Father's Day card, and the artwork gifts which were so adorable. We highly recommend.

It has been lovely to see how much his confidence has grown. He enjoys attending and often talks about preschool when he gets home, which gives us great reassurance that he feels happy and secure there. The staff clearly take the time to get to know each child as an individual and create a warm, nurturing environment where they can thrive.
Communication with parents has always been good, and we appreciate the updates and the genuine care shown towards the children. The activities are varied and engaging, encouraging learning through play while supporting their development.
We would happily recommend this preschool to other families looking for a caring, friendly and supportive setting for their child.
I've found the Village preschool a really lovely place for my children to have attended. Staff are friendly and approachable. Great at getting the children ready for school and my child has really enjoyed her time here.
