Sowing & Growing Nursery and Preschool is a brand new, purpose-built childcare setting which is dedicated to providing quality childcare. The setting has a strong focus on language and communication, working with the local community, and valuing staff and parents as well as the children in their care.

Sowing & Growing Nursery and Preschool has a vision to see children and their families reap all the benefits a strong foundation in early years has to offer. The setting is value-driven with a focus on excellence and providing nurturing, family-friendly and empowering environments. ‘Communication’ and ‘Love’ are also core values within the setting, therefore good information sharing between parents and appropriate professionals with a positive regard are interactions that should be expected at Sowing & Growing Nursery and Preschool.

This setting has three rooms; ‘Pumpkins’ (3 months to 2 years), ‘Sunflowers’ (2-3 years) and ‘Chestnuts’ (3-5 years). Each room has been designed to stimulate age-appropriate development and independence, with objects and toys placed at children’s eye level. The Sowing & Growing staff team have been trained to stimulate language and communication development in a gentle and natural manner. All of the toys and equipment has been carefully selected to encourage imaginative play and learning according to EYFS guidance.

Sowing & Growing has been such a lovely place for my child's early years. There's a great mix of fun, hands-on activities like gardening, watching chicks hatch, and visits from paramedics, firefighters and police. The staff are so warm and approachable. It's always easy to talk to them, and they keep
you in the loop - which really puts your mind at ease. My child has come on so well socially and emotionally, and I'm really proud of how confident they've become. They've also loved learning phonics and are now really into sounding out words - which is a great head start for Reception. There's a real sense of community too. Events like sports days and graduation parties are such lovely moments for both kids and parents. You can tell the team puts so much heart into everything they do.

It's a superb nursery with a talented staff team, passionate independent owners and a family feel throughout. It is so clear the care and attentiveness that runs throughout the nursery.
The children truly thrive in the setting, growing in confidence and skills. Where some children are struggling the
staff spot it early and communication with parents is excellent.

My twins have had such a lovely experience at Sowing & Growing. The staff are caring, supportive, and truly attentive to each child's needs. My daughter is autistic and the way they've embraced and supported her has meant so much to us. Both children have made great progress and come home happy every
day. We're really grateful for the nurturing environment they've created

Our little one has been at Sowing & Growing since he was just over a year old, and it's been like a second home ever since. The staff are warm, consistent, and really take the time to build strong relationships with both children and parents. It's clear they genuinely care.
We've always been impressed
by how thoughtful and responsive they are, especially when it comes to our son's food allergies - we've always felt he's in safe hands.
There's a lovely balance of fun and learning. From trips and family events to phonics and early maths, the activities are varied and well thought out. They're also doing a brilliant job preparing the older ones for school in a way that feels gentle and age-appropriate.
It'll be a real wrench to leave when our son starts school. We're so grateful for everything the team has done - S&G has been such an important part of his early years.

We couldn't be happier with the experience we have had here. The warmth & professionalism of the staff has stood out, they are truly fantastic; providing individual attention while fostering a nurturing & engaging environment.
The facilities are excellent; full of stimulating resources that inspire
creativity & learning, from imaginative play to structured learning activities.
What really impressed us is the variety of enrichment activities available. Our daughter loves the sports sessions, yoga & music time, they're a brilliant way to support both physical & emotional development. The nursery also goes above & beyond by organising regular trips, locally & further afield.
The daily tasks & activities are thoughtfully planned & its clear that the staff are dedicated to making every day meaningful. The communication with parents is also excellent, keeping us well informed & involved.
We feel very lucky to have found such a fantastic place for our daughter to grow, learn and thrive.

A special place, arguably one of the best nurseries in the area. Family-owned, modern, inclusive. Bright spacious rooms for each age group (0-2, 2-3, 3-5), a lovely garden for the kids to get fresh air on a daily basis and burn off energy. Parents are welcome all the way inside for drop off/pick up
(as opposed to the front gate like other nurseries) which allows a real insight into the business and the atmosphere on any given day, and facilitates communication between parents and staff. All sorts of stimulating activities e.g. Yoga/sports/music sessions, trips to the local library and playground, learning about different cultures via 'language of the month', and even observing caterpillars turn into butterflies and chicks hatching from their eggs! The best thing about the place is of course its staff - so many vibrant personalities, all of them warm, diligent and genuinely caring. Management & Directors too are present, communicative, and engaging. We'll miss Sowing & Gowing when our daughter graduates!

Fantastic nursery! My son has been going since he was one and has had the best time at Sowing and Growing. The staff are caring, nurturing and attentive. They have fun and stimulating activities for the kids, an excellent space with a beautiful garden, and nutritious food. My son is about to go to reception
this year and is so sad to be leaving, he's grown and developed so much at the nursery forming bonds with his friends and the staff.

Our son started very small, and they took great care of him. He is now 18-months-old, and he's particularly enthusiastic to go and spend the day doing great activities, creative, musical, outdoor, sportive etc. The staff are very approachable and go to great lengths to design interesting and diverse
activities for kids. The emphasis on communication is very valuable; the kids learn the Makaton language very early on. There are weeks and/or months themes based on the calendar, such as black history month, pride month, under the sea week etc. The management is great, very responsive and keen to address all concerns. We were lucky to get a spot.

Sowing & Growing is such a lovely nursery. My daughter absolutely loves it. She started nursery when she was 1-years-old, and she settled in really quickly. The staff are just amazing - both in terms of the activities but also their communication with you. The nursery has such a lovely community - we

We absolutely love Sowing & Growing. My daughter has been going since she turned one and settled in so easily there thanks to the wonderful, attentive staff. They really do go above and beyond to make sure both the parents and little ones are as happy as possible, and they have created a really close-knit
and supportive environment. I particularly love the focus on language and Makaton they follow - my now 18-month-old daughter communicates so well because of all the time they spend developing these skills. The nursery is also a really lovely space, with a great garden out the back.

Sowing & Growing is such a wonderful place! My son has attended since he was nine months old, and he settled in very quickly. The staff are attentive, enthusiastic, kind and go out of their way to address the needs of each child, recognising them as individuals. They put so much effort into organising

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.635)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.635) out of 10 for Sowing & Growing Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Sowing & Growing Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (99 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.718 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sowing & Growing Nursery and Preschool is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 number of registered child places is 11. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.818
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
