Located on its beautiful 50-acre green campus in the heart of York, The Rise will welcome children aged 6 months to 3+ years, providing an enriching start to early childhood shaped by warmth, wonder and exceptional care.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the Curiosity Approach, The Rise offers child-led, research-informed learning within beautiful, intentional environments. Children are encouraged to explore their interests through play, creativity and discovery, supported by skilled educators who understand the importance of nurturing curiosity from the earliest years.
Children benefit from weekly enrichment sessions including Forest School, PE, Spanish, Music and Cookery Club, delivered by specialist teaching staff. These take place in newly renovated facilities, including a large, light-filled atelier (art studio), library, dining room and large walled garden.
Excellent staff-to-child ratios ensure each child receives exceptional individual attention. Educators are supported by dedicated catering and housekeeping teams, allowing them to focus fully on the children in their care. Children also benefit from the expertise of qualified nurses within the Wellbeing Team and specialist SEND teachers.
Every child is supported by a dedicated Keyperson who develops a secure, trusting relationship with both child and family. Led by a qualified teacher and early years specialist, The Rise Nursery combines outstanding care with high-quality early education, providing a strong foundation for lifelong learning and preparing children for a successful educational journey, including progression to St Peter’s School.

St Peter's is delighted to have had Anna Coyle return to St Peter’s School as Nursery Manager of The Rise Nursery, where she is currently bringing together something truly special for the school’s youngest children.
Anna lives in York with her husband, their two teenage sons and their cocker spaniel, Lucy. Outside of work, she enjoys long coastal walks, painting resources for the classroom, practising yoga and, most of all, settling down with a good book by the fire.
Anna is a qualified primary teacher with over fifteen years’ experience specialising in Early Years education. Her career has taken her across York, Leeds and overseas, including leading Early Years at Hempland Primary School, four very happy years here at St Peter’s as Head of Early Years, and more recently, a year teaching at a remarkable nursery school in Boulder, Colorado. Before returning to St Peter’s, Anna was Nursery Manager at Tiddlywinks Day Nursery in York.
These experiences have shaped Anna’s vision for The Rise Nursery: a calm, unhurried and truly child-led approach, where children feel safe, curious and respected. She is passionate about creating beautiful, purposeful learning spaces and offering rich and inspiring creative experiences. Anna believes outdoor play and connecting with nature are central to a happy and healthy childhood, and she is looking forward to making this a cornerstone of everyday life at The Rise.
As Nursery Manager, Anna will be very hands-on and involved in all areas of nursery life, with a strong focus on open, friendly partnerships with families and staff. She aims to create an inclusive, welcoming and vibrant community where every child feels truly known and valued.
