St Peter's is delighted to have had Anna Coyle return to St Peter’s School as Nursery Manager of The Rise Nursery, where she is currently bringing together something truly special for the school’s youngest children.
Anna lives in York with her husband, their two teenage sons and their cocker spaniel, Lucy. Outside of work, she enjoys long coastal walks, painting resources for the classroom, practising yoga and, most of all, settling down with a good book by the fire.
Anna is a qualified primary teacher with over fifteen years’ experience specialising in Early Years education. Her career has taken her across York, Leeds and overseas, including leading Early Years at Hempland Primary School, four very happy years here at St Peter’s as Head of Early Years, and more recently, a year teaching at a remarkable nursery school in Boulder, Colorado. Before returning to St Peter’s, Anna was Nursery Manager at Tiddlywinks Day Nursery in York.
These experiences have shaped Anna’s vision for The Rise Nursery: a calm, unhurried and truly child-led approach, where children feel safe, curious and respected. She is passionate about creating beautiful, purposeful learning spaces and offering rich and inspiring creative experiences. Anna believes outdoor play and connecting with nature are central to a happy and healthy childhood, and she is looking forward to making this a cornerstone of everyday life at The Rise.
As Nursery Manager, Anna will be very hands-on and involved in all areas of nursery life, with a strong focus on open, friendly partnerships with families and staff. She aims to create an inclusive, welcoming and vibrant community where every child feels truly known and valued.
