I am the deputy manager and the room leader for the pre-school Oaks room. I joined the Battle Abbey Family in 2008 where I have worked in both the younger ‘Acorns’ room and I’m currently with the 3-4-year-olds. What I love most about my job is being fortunate enough to watch the children develop, grow and flourish from Nursery age all the way through to 6th Form at the Senior School. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, catching up with friends and family as well as volunteering for local charities.
I was born in Portsmouth and moved to Eastbourne when I was four. I then attended a local primary school, followed by Battle Abbey Senior School. I absolutely loved it and still reminisce about my time there even now. I then began studying a 2-year Horse Management course at Plumpton College. My love of horses continues and I try to get down to my local stables as much as I can. My work life started at Marks and Spencer Eastbourne as a Christmas temp which lasted for 7 years!! I began working at Battle Abbey Nursery in April 2019 as an Admin Assistant and it is so lovely to be a part of the Battle Abbey family again!!
I was born and raised in Bexhill and I am married with two sons, who both attend Battle Abbey School. Originally I trained as a beautician and was a manager at Virgin for over ten years. After becoming a parent and realising the importance of the Early Years Foundation Stage I gained my Level 2 qualification and I’m currently working towards my Level 3. I have worked at Battle Abbey Nursery since 2016.
I live in Bexhill with my husband and my two sons. My youngest son came to Battle Abbey Nursery and thoroughly enjoyed his time there. We both really loved Battle Abbey Nursery so when a position came available to work at the nursery I jumped at the chance!.
Over the past few years, I have worked with the council organising baby groups for local families to enjoy and I also worked in a nursery in Hastings.
I'm currently working in the baby room which I enjoy and find very rewarding.
In my spare time, I love to be with my family. We enjoy walks and adventures together. I'm trying to get better at gardening. I'm hoping to develop a small veg patch this year.
I began studying Early Years in 2011, completing an Apprenticeship in Childcare and Education and qualifying as a Level 3 in 2012.
I moved to Bexhill in 2019 from Surrey and feel that I am well settled, especially being so close to the beach. I like to socialise with my friends and family, read books and go on nice long sunny walks.
I am very happy to be a part of the Battle Abbey Nursery team and doing what I do best - helping children to thrive, develop and progress through play.
I started in my childcare profession in 1987 when my son was little so it's safe to say I have a wealth of experience and knowledge. My roles have included childminding, creche assistant, and Nursery practitioner and my last post before joining Battle Abbey Nursery were at a small private nursery in Bexhill where I stayed for 16yrs and 11yrs as a room leader.
I have gained many qualifications during this time including City and guilds caring for children 0-7, NCFE and NVQ 3.
I feel so privileged to be able to work with children, I love to listen to their stories and what they have to say. Every day is different and always guaranteed to be full of fun.
I live in Battle with my husband, we both like to socialise, cook, and spend time in our Spanish holiday home
I began my placement experience as a college student and was quickly offered an apprenticeship at the setting where I progressed on gaining my Level 2 and Level 3 in Childcare. As I have always lived in Bexhill with my family, I was aware of the excellent reputation Battle Abbey School holds so when a position arose for Battle Abbey Nursery, I was eager to apply for a position. I particularly love the layout of the setting which is spacious, bright, and full of exciting activities and opportunities for the children to thrive and develop.
I have been working with children and young people for the past twenty-eight years. I qualified in 1997 with Early Years Childcare and Development. I then took some time out to bring up my own children. As my children started playgroup I had the chance to help run the toddler group and then in 2005, I joined the staff team at the playgroup. I have been in my Early Years ever since and have a variety of experiences with additional needs. In October 2018, I joined Battle Abbey Nursery and I am currently enjoying working with the babies in the Little Squirrels room.
