Sibford School Early Years

Sibford School Nursery welcomes children from the September after they turn three. The Nursery offers up to 15 hours free funding per week for three and four year olds, under the Early Education Funding Scheme.

The nursery at Sibford School encourages curiosity and an adventurous spirit, and uses children’s own ideas and interests to drive their learning forward.

Nursery children have weekly swimming and PE lessons taught by specialists, as well as a forest school session at the school's very own forest school site. Sibford believes that the importance of music, art, and drama with young children should never be underestimated. The children have continuous access to a ‘creative area’ and painting as well as lots of opportunities to create art using a variety of mediums such as clay. On top of this, they have weekly music and musical theatre sessions with specialist teachers.

Sibford Nursery, part of Sibford Junior School, sits in a 50-acre campus meaning the class can enjoy lots of time outside. This is where many children are happiest and learn the most. For this reason, Sibford Nursery offers them the option to learn outside as much as possible.

The environment is set up with open-ended resources that encourage the children to use their imagination. Crates can be made into a space rocket, part of an assault course, an oven in the mud kitchen or simply a table and chairs. On top of using the outdoor area, the children go on regular nature walks around the campus, encouraging gardening and go pond dipping. The schools love of nature is also reflected inside the classroom with natural colours on the boards and natural objects to play with.
