Play B C is a teacher-led preschool offering a fun and stimulating environment for children aged between two and five years old to play and learn in.
The preschool team has been trained to a high standard to be able to understand the changing needs of children as they grow and develop.

Play B C offers high quality teacher led provision, which requires some investment. However, in the current climate, we find ourself under significant financial pressure, like other early years settings up and down the country. The government funding for preschool places doesn’t cover the true cost of delivery and they have said it is only meant to cover basic childcare, not additional costs like meals, consumables, extra hours, or additional services and that families should be prepared to pay for these.
In order to remain sustainable we have introduced a daily charge for additional services and consumables for children in receipt of funded hours. Parents of children not eligible for entitlement funding will pay for sessions at the appropriate hourly rate (£10), which includes a hot lunch if they attend over the lunch period. Parents who require extra hours in addition to their funded hours will pay this same rate.
All children staying for lunch have a hot meal. This aligns with our commitment to promote children’s overall well-being and development and our steps towards the Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger, fostering a future where every child has access to nourishing food for a brighter and more sustainable world. We feel that it is in their best interests for a number of reasons such as:
-Ensuring no allergenic foods are brought into preschool
-Receiving at least one balanced, freshly cooked, hot meal each day
-Developing self-care skills such as eating with a knife and fork.
In the case of children with restricted diets we will work with the families accordingly. Any family not wanting their child to have a hot meal is welcome to collect them and take them home for lunch.
We are able to offer a restricted number of bursary places for children in receipt of Early Years Pupil Premium.

Our son has additional needs and we were very anxious about leaving him. Play BC staff were so attentive, they spent lots of time finding out what our son liked and how best to care for him. They made sure familiar staff were available to him when he attended. This really helped him settle much quicker than we could have hoped for. He has now completed 4 terms at pre school and thanks to pre school we have a much clearer idea if his needs which Will help him immeasurably when he leave pre school later this term. Our son is always keen to go to pre school- a big smile on his face telling me he is going to play with 'Mrs B'.
Pre school has challenged him but have also given him space when needed. His talking has come so far in the last year, he now joins in teacher time and completes his individual learning. We are so grateful. Thank you Play BC.

We are extremely happy with this Play BC PreSchool and the care it provides. The child care is excellent, with great attention in every aspect of a child's routine and learning. The school offers extra activities that help in overall development, along with enjoyable garden time that my child truly look forward to. Nutritious and well-planned food is provided, which gives us great peace of mind.
What touches us most is the huge impact the staff has on our child's spirit. The environment is so nurturing that our child often comes home and pretends to be a staff member, tenderly taking care of her dollies just like her teacher take care of her. Seeing her model that same kindness at home is greatest testament to the positive environment they create. The staff is extremely caring and supportive, even during difficult times, ensuring our child feels emotionally secure and confident. We regularly receive detailed feedback on our child's progress.

Overall very happy with Play BC nursery, very efficient, pleasant and positive staff. Its my childs 2nd year here and couldnt be more happier, its sad that its her last yr but i do definitely recommend this nursery to whoever is looking for a trust worthy and welcoming nursery for their child.

Where can we start! Play BC was amazing for us! Our son felt so welcome right from the start. The communication we received throughout the day was 10/10. He made lots of new friends, developed his skills and had so much fun. A big shout out to all the team expecially three ladies. He continues to talk about you all. This Preschool was the best school I sent my daughter too. The staff are amazing and really supportive and helpful. They brought my daughter out of her shell and brought her to a place where she is ready for Primary school, we are sad to be leaving such a great setting and would recommend to anyone.

My son started in February 25 and still attends now. My son has additional needs and if it wasn't for the caring concern of staff I wouldn't have had the courage to leave him. I was given so much reassurance, staff (especially two staff members) have taken so much care to ensure his
transition to pre school went well - taking time to get to know him. We have been supported as a family to start getting the right long term support in place for him.

Lovely safe and nurturing preschool with competent staff who understand development and in our case early trauma and the impact this can have. My little man has settled and is well supported. He previously refused or had to be collected early from a previous preschool as unable to manage his emotions but he is keen and eager to attend.and making progress and the most important of all he is happy.

Perfect, tight-knit preschool where all the teachers genuinely care about the children. My daughter initially attended two preschools but we moved her solely to Play B C because she clearly loved the teachers and the setting much more. My daughter is loving her time at play bc. They helped her so much when she was about to become a big sister by reading her stories about the transitions and getting her to play with babies alot which she loved. Her vocabulary is remarkable for a 3 year old girl. She has a great relationship with all the teachers especially her keyworker! Great preschool. Very person centred and adaptations made according to the childrens' needs . As a parent, always kept in the loop about our child's needs and what has been happening throughout the day. The preschool always organise events which encourages parent involvement and these are events the children always look forward to. My child has been at the preschool for a year now and has grown across the board and I've no doubt this is due to the care and education he has received. Thank you Play BC!

My daughter has attended Play B C since she was 2.5 years old, 2 days a week. She has absolutely thrived since attending. Her speech, writing, numbers and social skills came on so much in the Play B C setting. I've always felt comfortable leaving her with the team who take such good care of her and really make her feel happy. I cannot recommend this lovely setting enough.

My two children have both attended this preschool and I couldn't be happier with the care and support they have received. My younger son was particularly anxious when he started and the preschool was happy to be flexible about the settling arrangements and willing to allow me to stay as long as I felt necessary. The staff are wonderful. They have such a warm and caring relationship with the children and are very supportive of parents too. Staff have a very positive ethos and any difficulties are dealt with sensitively. They also work hard to accommodate any need to change hours/days. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this preschool to others.

His key person was friendly and patient and spent a lot of time one-on-one with him.
The facilities are great. The whole nursery is clean and well ordered and there is plenty of staff on hand. The outside space is good and they use it often.
Any queries I had were responded to quickly. The manager is friendly and accessible.
It is only due to changes in our circumstances due to the current situation that we are not continuing our son's preschool journey with Play BC but the decision to leave was something that we did not take lightly.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Play BC to others. We will miss it very much.

Wonderful place for learning and growing children prior to joining full-time education at a bigger school. When I sent my son here, I was adamant to send my daughter as well who now attends Play B C. I'm impressed with the care and nurturing of the staff and will miss them when we leave.

I can’t remember a time I didn’t want to look after children. My very first experience in a childcare setting was my school work experience, from then on I was more than ever determined to follow my heart and make it happen. I went on to complete my NNEB and have been working in childcare ever since, over 20 years!
I love working at Play B C, every day is different, bringing fun and laughter. Watching the children grow and develop is amazing and I feel lucky to be a small part of this. We have a fantastic caring team at Play B C, that I feel very lucky and proud to be a part of.
I am committed to making a difference in the world and have always loved being around young children, so preschool life is just perfect for me.
I used to teach in primary schools and before that I worked in local government developing equality policies and managing special educational needs casework. I have over 15 years experience of early years teaching, a masters in Education, a diploma in teaching for special needs and an NPQ in Early Years Leadership among other things (I am a bit of an eternal student).
I set up the preschool because I thought there might be a better way of doing things. Back then we were a pack-away preschool. Nearly ten years on I am proud to offer two fantastic learning environments with the support of a committed, hard working team with a wealth of knowledge about child development and a combined total of over 100 years experience.
I have been working with children for over ten years. After having children myself and volunteering regularly within primary schools I realised that working with children was what I wanted to do. Being able to assist and watch children grow is a real privilege, seeing the world through their eyes also makes each and every day different and exciting!
Working at Play B C is like being part of a large extended family and like any family, we have our ups and downs but it’s never dull and we are all invested in each and everyone in our community’s wellbeing. When I am not at work I like to walk in the woods or better yet on the beach and often turn up to Play B C bearing shells, rocks, or pine cones as a result!
I am also an avid reader and one of my favourite things is to share a good story with the children.
I love working with the young children at Play B C and helping them grow and mature.I have now been working with children for around nine years.
I play the piano in my spare time and I enjoy going out on long walks.
I have worked with children for over 20 years!!!! (Wow I feel old lol). I started working with children after I did my high school work experience in a play school and I knew it was the job for me.
I enjoy working at Play B C because we are a small and friendly team who all care about the children in our preschool and want them to be safe, happy and reach their full potential.
I like to read and go walking on the beach or exploring the countryside. I also enjoy being a chaperone for my son and his performing arts school including West End shows, and I like going to the skateboard park and watching my other son drop down 6ft ramps, pump the vert and Casper flip 180!
And I was a red coat at Butlins!
I joined the wonderful team at Play B C a few years ago now. I joined after a very long stint at the nursery attached to St Helier, where I worked for the past 20 years, with all ages from babies to preschoolers and older in the holiday club too.
I have four brilliant children of my own from ages seven to 19, so clearly absolutely love my job and being around children, watching them learn, develop and flourish. There is nothing better in life than hearing a child laughing.
I love camping and being outdoors in general, especially by the sea where I spend most weekends.
Hiya! I’m Fiona, I’ve been working with the wonderful team at Play B C for just over two years now. I have recently just completed my Early Years Level 3.
I am very lucky to have two beautiful boys aged eight and six, they are one of the main reasons why I have changed career and gone back to studying. It’s such a rewarding and a massive incentive to watch children grow and develop knowing that I played a small part in their learning. Also having that relatability to other parents when they are dropping their child off for the first time and knowing that they are in safe hands is very important to me, I have felt all the emotions and understand exactly how you feel.
When I’m not at work I like to go to the gym and go on long adventurous walks with my boys.
