Claylands Nursery Reviews (15)
Over all time Claylands Nursery has 15 reviews.
Management is absolutely shocking. No management structure. Emails are signed by just a first name, no job title. Staff are all related to each other and not willing to stand up to management. Can't get hold of management to talk to them and then you are accused of not meeting with them. Verbally told by staff one thing then on the child's journal told another thing.
As you are aware, the points you have raised in this review were the subject of a formal complaint made by yourself to our regulator, who investigated this in person. After a visit to our setting, sight of our email records and files, they did not uphold any element of your complaint....
Claylands Nursery was the third nursery we've experienced and the best by far. The outdoor space is definitely their 'wow factor' and it made the nursery worth every penny. I thought it would be a spring/summer feature, but they really try to use it all year round. And let's not forget how beneficial it must be for the staff as well. Aside from that highlight, everything else seemed perfect - settling in, nap times, health precautions (appropriate outdoor wear, sun cream etc.), even paperwork/billing was easy and efficient - so I'm struggling to think of any room for improvement. Even my expectation that we'd see staff come and go quite frequently didn't happen. Pretty much everyone there now has been there since our boy's first day, always with a smile on their face, and that continuity is so important for the kids. If I think of any negatives, I'll let the nursery know, but for now it's a 5 star review.
Our twin boys started at Claylands Nursery in January 2023 and within a month have settled in and adjusted making lots of new friends wonderfully well. This is without a doubt down to the lovely hard working and caring staff who have created a lovely bond with them, making every day an adventure with new activities that are both fun and educational. The nursery grounds are delightful, a little haven surrounded by beautiful gardens which are definitely a favourite with our boys who love outdoor activities and play. The nursery has surpassed all our expectations and more it's such a lovely feeling when our boys come home filled with all the excitement and stories of their day at nursery and relief as a parent knowing that our children are with such lovely people having fun, creating memories. The staff are a real credit to their profession and as parents, we love reading and seeing updates from our boy's learning journals, this is such a lovely touch and fills us with joy.
Our daughter loves going to nursery here. Everyone was great at helping her settle in and all the staff know her really well. We are always kept well informed about what she has been doing, both verbally and through an online learning journal. It's great to see photos of what she has been doing all day. A lot of effort is put into theme weeks to keep everyone entertained. The outdoor space is fantastic for play and our daughter loves the food there.
Both our boys attend Claylands Nursery and thoroughly enjoy the outdoor space, especially the chance to explore the large grounds. The pre school room is organised and creates a fun atmosphere for the children.
My two boys both attend Claylands Nursery and it has been an absolutely wonderful place for them. They both have ASD and significant additional support needs. Finding a mainstream nursery that would accept them was a complete nightmare, particularly because they both need free flow play and won't engage with structured games. The nursery has been a perfect fit for them - not only do the children have continuous access to go outside and play in the enormous outdoor area but the staff have also been outstanding. I can't put into words how wonderful the staff have been with the boys. They are so compassionate and patient with them and have let the boys just join in and be treated the same as all the other children. I know that most people reading these reviews will be looking at them from the perspective of parents of children who do not have additional support needs but I wanted to flag up to any parents who have been struggling to find an exceptional, mainstream nursery, this is it!
The nursery offers fresh food cooked each day on-site and cater for all dietary needs. Our daughter always comes home well-fed and happy.
He is treated like an individual and the nursery really focus on his likes and dislikes. The staff are available to answer questions and help with areas of development and behaviour.
Our little girl absolutely loves Claylands Nursery and all the staff there. She has been there for almost a year and is always coming home saying and singing new things she has learned there. They have a great outdoor area for playing!
Daughters both love the outdoor space as well as the friendliness of staff, everyone is so informative, reassuring and professional. A credit to Claylands Nursery. When your children ask to go to nursery you know they are having a great time and in safe hands.
Thanks for taking the time to review Claylands! Your feedback is so important to us and we are very proud of our staff!
I’ve really seen my little girl thrive here and all the staff are friendly and approachable. I echo the feedback that they are allowed to be their own person but still engage in the same activities and this has worked very well for us.
The only issue can be the single road in and out of the nursery which can also make parking difficult at busier pick up and drop off times.
Overall, the outdoor facilities are perfect for the kids and are the main reason we chose Claylands Nursery.
It’s great receiving updates and pictures of what our little one's up to during the day. We chose Claylands as they focus on their outdoor play which was important to us.
We feel totally at ease knowing they are safe in good hands and genuinely happy at nursery.
Her teachers are all lovely. Everyone is always smiling and gives me absolute peace of mind about the quality of care she is receiving. We’re really glad we chose this nursery and will be sending our next kid there.
We live in West Lothian but made the short detour on the commute into Edinburgh to go here. We wanted lots of outdoor space and like that the place is on our route but still secluded. There is a big focus on learning but in a child-friendly way that really suited our wee one as things are not too regimented and they are given enough room to be their own person. I would say that you really need to drive to be able to easily get here every day.
Thanks for your feedback. Being on the border of West Lothian and Edinburgh, we do have a lot of children from East Calder attending and receiving fully funded free spaces like yourself.
Amazing nursery, great outdoor space and all the staff are so friendly. Everyone always makes you feel so welcome couldn’t recommend this nursery enough and wouldn’t send children anywhere else!
