Adventurers Day Nursery, is a purposed built, high-quality nursery within walking distance of the centre of York, Fulford and York University.

The nursery caters for children from birth to eight years, and has age appropriate rooms which help children to flourish.

The Starfish Room is the dedicated baby area (0-2 years), the Turtle Room is for over 2 years and a class room for the older children to use. In addition to these rooms there are shared areas such as the messy room and the Adventurers Soft-Play Room. The nursery has 2 large outside play areas for all the children to use.

There is a qualified chef who prepares a menu of freshly prepared food on a daily basis. All meals are nutritious and well-balanced, using only the freshest ingredients. Special dietary requirements are always taken into account. The nursery Kitchen holds 5 Star Food Hygiene rating (June 2023).

The Nursery was last inspected by Ofsted in October 2023 and was rated Good.

The Nursery accepts all government funding, and is also set up to receive most childcare vouchers.

My daughter started attending the nursery when she was 1 year and half. I was really nervous to put her in other peoples care because she was always with me and didn't like strangers. The first month was tough because she was not coping well being away from me. But the nursery team did all they could
to help her settle and be comfortable.
Eventually she settled in and loved going in on the days she was attending. She really blossomed and was no longer keeping to herself. Her social skills developed and she has thrived under the care of the whole nursery team.
The teachers have really been patient with her and the love and care they have shown has really blown me away.
I am grateful for their help and the support in helping get her ready to start school.
She is now in reception class at primary school and she loves every minute of it.
I couldn't recommend the team and the nursey more!!

We have been very happy with Adventurers, they have really gone out of their way to bring out the best in the children, encouraging learning and independence and working alongside SEN coordinators to ensure they do everything they can for the children. I'm really happy with the nursery's care for my son. They've been taking care of him since he was 8 months old and I'm very satisfied. All the nursery staff who look after my son, have been wonderful with him. I always feel that he is safe and well taken care of.


I trust them completely and feel like

they treat my son like family. I want to say a big thank you to everyone at the nursery. Your care and kindness really makes a difference. My child is flourishing and my return to work has been made much easier. I would definitely recommend this nursery to other parents.

I highly recommend Adventurers Day Nursery both my children have been put in nursery here. My eldest son, who is now 7, went here and loved it and my daughter, who is 3, has been here since she was a year old and loves it and has made good friends and loves her nursery staff.
All the staff are lovely
but I'd like to give an extra special thanks and appreciation to 4 members of staff in particular as both me and my daughter think they are amazing! She always comes out of nursery happy and says she's had a lovely day and sometimes even comes out with really tidy lovely french plaits. I'm also putting my 2 month old daughter in the nursery next year until she then starts school! Couldn't recommend them more.

We have been so thrilled and happy with the care provided to our children by the nursery. All three of my children (the two eldest have moved on to start school) with my current third baby have been attending since they were 1.
The staff are very caring, and thoughtful and genuinely love being with
the children. The leadership team who manage the nursery are also owners, so they take great care to ensure any feedback or improvement suggestions from parents are heard and implemented. The staff are extremely flexible with arrangements on days you need the children in nursery (which, as a self-employed parent, is extremely helpful) and work with you to try their best to accommodate your needs.
The children do so many activities and are constantly learning about the world around them.
They have excellent facilities with a dedicated soft play room upstairs for the children, the babies in particular have loved using this space during their crawling and more wobbly phases.

Sadly there are quite a few negatives to mention. I have had both my sons attend Adventurers over the last 4 years, me and my wife have seen a gradual decline at Adventurers. First of all they are not accommodating at all, so one occasion my wife was going to be 15 minutes late due to a hospital appt,
we asked if we could pick my son up a bit later and was told point blank no, so we ended up having to not send my son for that day. One day I arrived at 9.28 am, I was told I would have to wait outside with my son until 9.30 am to be let in, they opened the door 30 seconds later! My son's lunch is half eaten yet his slip says mostly eaten. My wife arrived at 12.30 pm to pick my son up and was told she was late even though pick-up time is 12.30pm. We feel Adventurers do not have the child at the heart of everything they do and it is all about the income, furthermore, before anything changes, the whole team needs to work together as one and embrace their values and beliefs as these are seriously lacking.

My girls absolutely love going to Adventurers Day Nursery. They wake up excited to attend have the best days and feel comfortable with all of the staff. Every member of staff is lovely and kind to my girls and they are able to tell me the different skills that the girls have learnt. The food that they
have eaten, and how they have been that day. It is a nice nursery with lots of different things for children to play with. My girls have attended for the last 2 years and have developed well and learned so much.

We have had two children attend Adventures Day Nursery from 1 - 5 years old, both moving into primary school when the time arrived. Our youngest leaves today. We have used Adventures Day Nursery over the last 6 years and have come to know the staff well. We really feel that the staff around our children
have taken good care of our babies through their early years, nurturing them and promoting their development, both physically and emotionally. The care for our girls has been so evident, and they have really thrived within the setting. We have been happy with the staff that have cared for our girls, some new, some gone but also some who have been consistently within their life from their first day. We would really recommend Adventures Day Nursery. A big thank you from us - you have supported two little girls wonderfully and allowed us as parents to work knowing our children are safe and taken care of.

Overall I am impressed with the nursery, I would recommend and I would definitely consider again.
At first, I was unsure about the nursery, it took a few weeks getting used to everyone and the nursery itself. Since then, I'm incredibly happy with how my son has improved in all aspects. He is more
confident, speaking so much more, his words are more clear and he interacts more.
The nursery has an outdoor area, sensory play room, a sofa like play room all which my son enjoyed.
There were a few hiccups down the road nevertheless, but any issues were sorted immediately, professionally, safely and always in the best interest of the children.
The key worker was great, always consistent, it was never different staff taking my child in which made it that much easier to say bye.
Overall I'm really impressed with all the staff and management at Adventurers Day Nursery. They all went above and beyond and I'm sure my child will miss them all dearly.

A fantastic nursery with caring and compassionate staff who do their best to nurture and support children to be their best. My daughter attended from nine months old to leaving for primary school, and each of her key workers has been fantastic and provided valuable advice over the years.

This nursery has provided really fantastic care for our son. All the staff are incredibly caring and aware of his needs as an individual and provide a supportive and stimulating environment in which he has really flourished. The staff are very kind, caring and welcoming. The management has been really helpful and always accommodate our changing needs. They can never do enough. When our son started at this day nursery, he had a few health problems. It was essential we found the correct setting for him to go to.
They quickly adapted to his needs and dietary requirements and since then my son has gone from strength to strength at Adventures Nursery.
They have a brilliant outdoor
area as well as a soft play area upstairs!
The children are always very cared for and looked after and the staff consistently go beyond and above their care of duty.
I would recommend to anyone!
