Harlequins Private Day Nursery is a family-run setting that has supported local families for more than 30 years. Based in a carefully restored listed building full of character, the nursery provides childcare and early education for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in a warm, welcoming environment where every child is encouraged to learn through play.
Children are cared for in age-appropriate rooms, with babies and younger toddlers benefiting from a nurturing space that focuses on sensory experiences, exploration and building secure relationships. Older children enjoy a purpose-built preschool environment with free-flow access between indoors and outdoors, helping them develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for school.
Learning is planned around each child's interests. It follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with opportunities to enjoy creative activities, messy play, music, imaginative play, early maths and literacy, and physical development. The secure all-weather outdoor area allows children to play outside throughout the year, with climbing equipment, sand play, a mud kitchen and open-ended resources encouraging curiosity and active learning.
Harlequins also offers a variety of supervised outings that extend children's experiences beyond the nursery, including nature walks, seasonal farm visits, Yoga and visits to local attractions.
Fresh meals and snacks are prepared on site each day using locally sourced ingredients where possible, with individual dietary needs catered for. Qualified practitioners, all trained in paediatric first aid, work closely with families to support every stage of a child's development, creating a caring environment where children can grow in confidence, make friends and enjoy happy early years experiences.

Choosing a nursery for your child is one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make, and I can honestly say sending Margaux here was one of the best decisions we made.
She has been attending since she was just seven months old, and from day one she has been surrounded by the most caring, kind and dedicated staff. Watching her grow into the confident, happy little girl she is today has been so special, and the nursery has played such a huge part in that journey.
The team genuinely care about every child. They create such a warm, safe and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to learn, explore and have fun every single day. The communication with parents has always been fantastic, and it's clear how much love and effort goes into everything they do.
What makes this nursery so special is that it never feels like just another nursery or a corporate business. It feels like a family.

Our son has been at Harlequins in the Caterpillars baby room for just under a year now and he has absolutely thrived. He's so happy and settled there, and it's been amazing to see how much he's grown and developed since starting. Harlequins has such a lovely, homely, family feel to it. You can drop your little one off and leave knowing they're in safe hands, being well looked after and having a lovely day, which is such a reassuring feeling as a parent. All of the staff are so friendly and genuinely care about the children. They know our son so well and it's really clear that he's not just another child to them. They really do go above and beyond, and we couldn't be more grateful. We honestly couldn't recommend Harlequins enough. Moving him there was one of the best things we could have done and we're so glad we found them!
