Portslade Day Nursery and Pre-School

Our daughter started here a few months ago when she was just over 1 year old and we have been really impressed. The staff are really welcoming, nurturing & brilliant at their jobs. She settled incredibly quickly & has been very happy to go to nursery ever since. It feels like a big family! We are particularly grateful with how sensitive & caring the staff have been regarding a previous bereavement in our family & how this impacted our nursery journey. Feeling so supported really has made all the difference to us at a difficult time so thank you very much Portslade Day nursery - you all do such a fantastic job!

Our twin girls started at the nursery recently. The staff have been amazing. Everyone has been so helpful and the girls have settled in really well.

It's the small things that have added up to an excellent experience so far. Daily updates at pick up, adapting meals for lactose intolerance and going the extra mile to help make us and the girls feel welcome.

The girls are clearly well cared for and enjoy being there. Leila, Charlotte and the team have been a breath of fresh air.

Everyone is kind and helpful and they always make me feel like my grandchildren are really important to them. Very supportive and informative and my grandchildren are always so happy when I pick them up. Thank you.

The staff and facilities at our child's nursery are fantastic. They've learnt a lot from their time attending Portslade Day Nursery and can't fault the level or attention of care. Would definitely recommend to other parents

Our son is super happy at Portslade Day Nursery he asks every morning, when he wakes up, if today is 'nursery' and is easy to get dressed and have his breakfast with his friends. He has been there 1 year and he is currently two years old. After nursery he tells me about the things he has been doing, who was there and most importantly the different types of food he has ate! He absolutely loves all the staff there, especially his key worker Courtney and previously Ellie. Leilah has always been super welcoming and helpful from day one and we are very grateful for the support network we now have thanks to the Nursery, thank you.

I moved my son to this nursery nearly a year ago after two years at a nursery where he was really settled. I was anxious about moving him and how he would handle it but I have to say that the staff at PDN have all been incredible and hugely supportive. My son is really thriving and I feel the nursery will make his transition to school an easy one as he's been given the tools and confidence to take on the new challenge. It's a nurturing environment where he's made lovely friends. They do dancing and yoga and football and I feel he's had a great all round experience. I recommend the nursery to anyone.

We recently moved to the area from London and I'm impressed on how well my child has settled in, thanks to the lovely staff. They are all very kind and caring and have taken time to get to know my child's likes and dislikes. We receive daily updates on the app with occasional photos, the food choices seem to be varied and healthy. The kids get to go outdoor most days too which I feel is important.

Both our children attend the nursery and we've been very happy with the care, especially under the new management. They have a great outdoors space and lots of activities - singing, football, arts etc. Staff are always welcoming and attentive to our children's needs. They really went the extra mile to help our baby settle in, and provided very frequent updates during those difficult first days. For my eldest, they arranged a SEN referral, which we're really greatful for, especially when the health visitor wasn't helpful in this regard.

Our son joined Portslade Day Nursery this year after we moved cities. He settled in so quickly and that is all down to the amazing staff. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about the nursery. The staff are so warm and engaging and give great updates on how our child's day has been. We are so sad that he wasn't there longer and that it is time for him to move on to school so has to leave.

The staff are warm and kind - they made our daughter feel very comfortable and cared for. She's learned lots of new things to help her prepare for kindergarten. We're really happy with our choice!

All staff are very lovely and helpful! My children are always happy and excited to go and love telling me what they did during their time at nursery! They always enjoy their food and come home happy! I would definitely recommend to other parents and carers.

My son was so happy in the nursery, he was there since he was one and half years then we continued until he is going to school, there are amazing staff they are caring about him like their own child always, they are amazing with activities, also they are clean, food was so good because my son doesn't like everything but they change him he tries many food with them, just have one comment for them that they need to put more pictures on the apps to make parents happier. But I recommend it for everyone.

Lovely nursery and amazing staff. Always very friendly, one of my children has grown very attached to his key worker and she always makes time for him and reassures him whenever he goes. My other child always runs up to his key worker and gives her cuddles. I've been sending my children to this nursery since 2018. Would recommend this nursery.

My son has attended Portslade Day Nursery for a year, they have been very understanding and patient with my son and his additional needs. They have great resources and an excellent management team. The food they supply is very nutritional and covers a whole range of dietary needs. The nursery itself is clean, tidy and organised and they have a lovely little area for your child's coats and bags. I highly recommend this nursery for parents, they have an amazing play area outside and lots of different toys inside including a home corner and sand table which my son loves. The staff here are absolutely amazing, they have a good staff-to-children ratio and everyone gets included in the activities and taught to socialise and make friends. Another thing I liked about this nursery is not only do they support the children they support the parents too which is not a quality you get at a lot of nurseries.

Overall very good experience, our son enjoys it, nice staff, lot of activities, our son always comes happy from the nursery. The management is approachable and always trying to sort any issues promptly.

My daughter started at nursery really unsettled and crying most of the time but with the help and knowledge of the baby room staff she's settled and it's made her so much happier and she enjoys to come into nursery now. She has come on leaps and bounds since attending Portslade Day Nursery and Pre-school!

Amazing nursery, my son has recently started here as we have just moved back to the area and he loves coming here in the morning, there's always something fun for them to do and he is always bringing me drawings home which I love. From football coaches attending to all the activities indoors too, he does love it, along with the girls upstairs, especially one member of staff in particular.

Overall good experience. My son enjoys the nursery, the staff and his friends. I loved the fact that they always made their own play dough and learned by doing. The nursery had a tank with a tadpole that the kids observed grow into a frog. They also grew their own vegetables and learned all about plants. Every Monday the kids had a PR session which my son loved. The reason for 4 stars is that there were never any outings and some of the staff sometimes appeared moody. Also, the app the nursery uses is outdated and the policy the nursery uses doesn't allow for timely updates (I have been receiving updates on my son's progress 3 months in the rear)

We came across Footsteps in October 2023 after the nursery that we originally enrolled in closed without notice after 4 short weeks. Right from the start the staff at Footsteps were so helpful and supportive in getting our little girl settled in. The manager and the team in preschool study foster learning in a way that is all about them having fun and our daughter just loves going there, she comes home every day full of stories about what she has been up to and on pick up she often refuses to leave until she has finished taking part in the activity she is engaged in. We genuinely couldn’t ask for a better environment or nicer people for our daughter to spend her days with.

Footsteps Day Nursery Portslade has been our son’s nursery since he was 10 months old. Our son is happy there and is supported in both his development and his interests. He often tells us enthusiastically about activities he has undertaken and always has a great time with his friends. The staff are great at reporting back on his progress and we feel they really have his best interests at heart.
