Both our children attended Fulford Montessori nursery from being in the baby room at 1 until they graduated from pre-school. The care they received was exceptional and catered to their individual interests. Staff were able to go with whatever sparked the children's interests on any given day, working
inclusively to support participation in everyday tasks and maximising independence. The Montessori curriculum was well-rounded, and celebrations to mark birthdays were always special. Staff utilised the local environment well, for example, shopping trips to buy ingredients for cooking and baking, trips to the park to find frog spawn and the local woods to do forest school. The attention paid to social and emotional development has resulted in friendships formed in the nursery that has stood for the rest of time. We are sad to be leaving after 7 years, but the foundations Fulford Montessori gave our children will last a lifetime!

I sent my little one to this lovely nursery. They were so attentive to my and her needs starting nursery in the toddler room. I was very impressed by those who work in the toddler room, and the awareness of infant mental health and making the transition to nursery really steadily.
The attention to
developing safe attachments within the environment is excellent, and I’m so impressed by the accessible environment too. So much that her independence and confidence has increased tenfold since starting. The regular updates, pictures about her care and learning are again excellent, and the ongoing reports of her progress both online and also in person mean we get a great run down each time she attends.
I’m really very impressed by the toddler room and how much the learning of different topics is encouraged and structured but also how freely and child-focused the day to day play is. I love the focus on the outdoors too.
I really think the staff do a fantastic job.
I would recommend it!

My son has attended this nursery for two years and has flourished because of his time there.
He is growing into a well mannered, articulate, responsible boy, and I know Montessori teachings and staff have influenced this.
The day is well structured, and I love that they help tidy up after lunchtime
and are encouraged to do so throughout the day.
Every day he is happy to go to nursery and has made lots of friends. He often doesn’t want to leave!
The activities they do are exciting and challenge my son in his learning and development.
My son especially enjoys the forest school, playing outside on the bikes, playing with the dinosaurs and the messy play. He loved roasting marshmallows on the fire and still remembers it now.
Nursery staff have worked incredibly hard to form relationships with myself and my son, and they are always more than happy to talk through concerns and parental worries
I thank the nursery for all they have done for us both, especially during the pandemic.

This is the best nursery in the area.
I have both my children in this nursery, both started at 9-months, one is 19-months now, and the other one is 3 and 1/2yrs.
I looked at pretty much every other nursery in the area, and this is the best by far! Wonderful and friendly staff and great management.
If there are problems, they address them immediately and always have an open ear. My children couldn’t be happier. Compared to their peers, they learn so much more in this nursery.
The words I’d describe the nursery; friendly, warm, individualised, Montessori values, independence supporting, outdoorsy, happy, open, colourful, encouraging, age appropriate, caring, nurturing, safe, forest school, great and nutritious food, clean.
I can’t recommend them enough!

Our 11-month-old has settled in really well, thanks to the staff being so responsive and understanding. He loves being in the baby room, and they are helping him to develop really well. We get lots of updates about our son every time we pick him up and feel well informed.

Absolutely love this place. Visited 3/4 in the area when we were first looking, and I knew it was the right place for my boy straight away.
The staff are brilliant, friendly, and I feel like they welcome my boy on a morning as much as his family would.
My boy's development is fantastic, and he
is becoming a very confident clever little boy.
Absolutely love the updates too, they put a smile on my face when I am working.

Cold and ignorant management.
Never reply to emails, do not arrange meetings about the safeguarding of my child. I have been waiting since 19th September but nothing. I had to ask for an injury to be put into the accident book.
Twice my child has said bye to the manager and twice been ignored.
I
have given notice and have informed Ofsted. I have given notice yet even when the manager was in front of me she told myself and another child's parent that 'supposed to be my day off, but you know', like it was a chore. Either be there and be happy or don't.
There are much much better places to put your most precious people, and this is not the place.

I am writing this on my daughter’s last day in the toddler room. She’s had a wonderful time at this nursery since starting in the baby room and I am rather sad that she’s leaving! We were new to the area and this was recommended. I was so impressed by the staff and how interested in the children and
happy in their jobs they seemed (especially compared to a lot of the nurseries I’d visited in London). My daughter has been really well looked after and she has flourished in their care. The team has a sensible approach to mishaps and illnesses and dealt really well with the challenges of Covid. Food is great, care is great and plenty of time outside at the nursery itself and on little trips out. Very much recommend this nursery!

Great staff. My daughter has been attending since she was 18 months and she loves nursery. She loves being around other kids, my concerns are taken and addressed in a timely manner and give me feedback that helps me manoeuvre things on the home front. I would recommend the nursery to any mother/parent.

Our daughter has been at York Montessori since she was 10-months-old and she has blossomed. As a 'lockdown baby', I was concerned that she would struggle to settle in, but she has really grown in confidence and her speech and communication, in particular, has improved hugely.


The staff clearly care

deeply about the children, and I love the positive relationships that my child has forged, particularly with her key worker. She's always really happy to see her! The staff are really flexible and accommodating; for example, we chose to use cloth nappies, and they've been really open to using them even though it's not what they usually use.


Mostly though, we love how child-led the nursery is - even the baby room. We're encouraged to update the staff with what we get up to so that can integrate it into their activities. It makes us feel like our child is being respected, even as a baby, and it's great that she has the freedom to explore and develop in the way that works for her.
