The 'Sandfield Day Nursery' team are a dedicated group of people who go above and beyond the call of duty to make every child's experience special. My son has loved each room he has attended for different reasons. The time and effort that goes into planning each day is noticeable, not to mention the 'Extra Curricular' events the nursery hold. I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursery to anyone. P.S. It has a fantastic garden suitable for play all year round.

My son started at Sandfield in August 2015. Since joining he has become a confident and social little boy. He has been eating a wider variety of foods which he would not even try at home, he's a lot less fussy (Thanks to the wonderful cooks!). His speech and motor skills are coming on fantastically and he really enjoys being with other children. Although he is only 2 now, he has made a lovely little group of friends who he is always very happy to see when I come in to drop him off. I even have days when he is reluctant to come home because he is having too much fun!

I really like the fact that the children have open access to the garden.

The staff are friendly and very approachable. My son has warmed to them all very quickly and has made wonderful relationships with his key workers. I too have made good relationships with staff members.

I would highly recommend this nursery, especially if you are looking for a very homely and welcoming environment.

My little girl started nursery when she was 1 yr old and has been going to Sandfield for the last month. We were glad to get a space here as the facilities are great and the staff were the most friendly of all the nurseries we visited. Her key worker and all the other members of the team have helped my daughter settle in really well. They do lots of different activities throughout the day and have a varied diet. It has been very special receiving pictures of her doing the various activities. We feel glad to know she is being well looked after by a great team. Thanks Sandfields team!

I can highly recommend this nursery. My son has attended since Oct 2013, when he was 8.5 months old. Very friendly and caring staff and great activities. My son is now a pre-schooler and and seems to very much enjoy the educational aspects as well as the more messy and fun-focused activities. He also constantly mentions the 'golden values' being taught when he is at home (e.g., 'sharing is caring'). In fact, he enjoys his time at Sandfield with his little friends so much that he will sometimes ask if he can go to pre-school even on Saturdays and Sundays.

Our daughter is seven months old and absolutely loves the nursery. When I come to pick her up she will give me a smile and turn back to playing. I am still breastfeeding and the nursery are very supportive. I come twice a day and there is a parent room ready for me. Girls in the Caterpillar room are fantastic doing their best to be caring, diligent and flexible. Our daughter always gives them her biggest smile when we arrive in the morning. The chef is great, she helped us with baby-led weaning which was a great success.

Our daughter has been here nearly a year, and it has been wonderful for all of us. The staff in Ladybirds are so caring towards her, and take a real interest in her interests and different quirks. She is clearly very happy spending time with them, and usually leaps into somebody's arms for a cuddle when we arrive. The room has a very friendly atmosphere, and fosters lovely relationships between the children there.

Her key person has such a good understanding of our daughter as a person, and we've really valued the insights she's shared with us.

Overall it's been a great experience, and we whole-heartedly recommend to friends with young children.

While on 'granny' duties I took my granddaughter to Sandfield Nursery. It was the first time I had visited. I was immediately impressed by the friendly, helpful staff and the first class facilities - the outside area has to be seen to be believed.

The nursery staff have been excellent, from the key workers to the management, from the day our daughter started caterpillars to the present time when she attends pre-school. We have found everyone to be highly professional, always friendly and available at all times to talk to us or listen to our questions. Our daughter has been very happy at Sandfield and the staff have played a vital and valuable role in her development. We feel very lucky and grateful.

My son has just began nursery and we have had a month of settling in. We had tears and distress at first but I am amazed at how quickly he has settled in. He now doesn't notice when I leave and laughs and giggles when he gets home.
Very happy there. Food is plentiful and varied, and well balanced. Many happy changes in day and helpful to know know what he's eaten and pooped and what he's been up to during the day. We get photos, reports of favourite activities, cards, pictures which makes the experience of leaving him absolutely fine. A lovely group of girls looking after him with respect and fun.

I have heard recommendation from many mums I met - I came by myself and I found the staff are friendly and very welcoming. I can feel how they are nice to my son from his reaction when he sees them. Also my son has improved since he joined the nursery and that is very clear. I can say its a very clean environment and I saw how they prepare the food. I think my son is lucky to join such a nursery. All the best.

My daughter started in early September and was very unsure, the staff were fantastic when it came to settling her in which really helped my anxiety. We looked at a lot of nurseries before we chose Sandfield day nursery - we're just so pleased we kept looking!

The facilities and space are great, as are the staff - we love the weekly comms around what the children are doing the following week and have been doing that week and the daily view of naps/food etc.

Overall we're just so pleased with this nursery, as is our daughter - we'd highly recommend it.

My son started at Sandfield Day Nursery last September 2015 when he was 14 months old. I was really worried that he would struggle to settle in as he had been at home with me for so long but I was really impressed how quickly he adjusted to life at Sandfield. The staff are really friendly and always happy to chat about his progress and any concerns they may have. They are also in tune to the needs of parents and were sensitive to how this change in lifestyle also affected me at the beginning. My son responds really well to the staff and is already demonstrating how much he learns here at home by dancing to songs he has become familiar with and signing certain words at home. I could not have imagined how impressed I was going to be with this nursery but I have nothing but the best to report so far.

I had an extremely unsatisfactory experience with this nursery. We were placed on a waiting list and promised a place on a set date, but it took four months after the set date for our daughter to get a place. We also had a very bad incident involving a member of staff and had to pull our daughter out after only one day. Oxford is a multicultural city but I do not believe this childcare provider is able to effectively support children of diverse backgrounds. We were refunded our fees and deposit but I would not recommend this nursery to anyone following our family's poor experience.

Kim Hambridge, Nursery Manager at Sandfield Day Nursery (Oxford) responded to this review on 12 Nov 2015:

At different times of the year we do have up to four months waiting list for places at the nursery. Our initial offer of a start date can be subject to change as leave dates and the plans of existing parents are also subject to change. Our commitment has to be to the child already in nursery; maintaining the consistency of care essential to their wellbeing and development.
While we respect the family's decision to remove their child after just one day at nursery, we deeply regret not having the time and opportunity to work with the family to demonstrate our proven, commitment to each and every child in our care.
Despite an unreserved apology, and full and open discussions with the family - the confidentiality of which we continue to respect – we were unable to convince them of our on-going commitment to celebrate diversity in nursery which has been validated by Ofsted in their inspections and by our ‘Investors in Diversity’ accreditation.
We wish the family all the very best for the future.

My twin daughters were at Sandfield Nursery for 4 years. They really enjoyed their time at the nursery and we were very happy with the care they received. The staff were very caring and the activities they did with our daughters taught them a lot, while being fun and engaging. Our daughters left the nursery recently to start school. It has been an easy transition for them which I am sure is in large part due to the excellent care and preparation they had at Sandfield.

My son (18 months) has recently moved up to a new class which he found quite unsettling, however the staff made sure he went through the process as easy as possible by offering to send up his previous carers if needed so he felt some familiarity. This was very comforting to hear as a parent. In addition to this we always find all staff very friendly, always saying hello and making you feel welcome. They often stay over their shift hours to continue chatting to us about our child's day at nursery, if we arrive to collect our son as they are finishing the day.

I have nothing but praise for this nursery. From the moment I looked around I was completely impressed. My son has been coming here since he was nine months old. The staff are all friendly, caring and helped so much with settling him into nursery life - he loves it! The environment is bright, airy and always extremely clean and the Caterpillar room (baby room) has lots of different areas to assist with your child's development. I have recommended the nursery to many of my pregnant friends and will continue to do so. We get daily feedback of what our son has eaten, slept and played with on that day and there really isn't anything better than seeing him so happy with his key workers. Thank you for all you have done so far and I look forward to watching him develop in the nursery over the coming months and years.

I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. My son has been at the nursery for over two years after a very bad start with another nursery! Sandfield is the only place he has settled very quickly and this is down to the exceptional professionalism and caring nature of the staff and the stimulating environment (not to mention the amazing garden).

Genuinely all the staff are great, but the key workers (assigned to my son) really did take the time to get to know him and build strong relationships to help him grow, develop and feel safe and secure.

I really want to thank Sandfield for making my sons time at your nursery such an enjoyable (and developmental experience). They also saved my sanity by allowing me to leave my precious bundle in an environment where we felt very confident in the care he was receiving. I honestly cannot recommend this nursery highly enough.

Our three-year old twins have really enjoyed their two-and-a-bit years at Sandfield and we could not have wished for a more positive start to their nursery/school life. They have been very happy and settled, and we feel incredibly lucky that they have been so well cared for by such kind, experienced and professional staff in such a warm and child-friendly environment. The facilities are great – bright, spacious, inviting rooms and a fabulous outdoor space – and the food is fantastic, too. At every stage, we feel that staff have really taken time to get to know our children's individual personalities, as well as respecting their relationship as twins. The reception staff, kitchen staff and management all know the individual children too, and are always friendly, polite and professional – you really get the feeling that individual staff members are part of a cohesive team that works well together. We would have no hesitation in recommending Sandfield to others (and frequently do!).

I would recommend this nursery (and have done)! The baby room where we put our then 7 month old is amazing. We were so worried about someone else caring for our baby, but they were excellent in helping us and him adjust. They really cared for him so well and his key workers Gemma and April were fabulous. I never though I'd be happy to leave him, but we were! They were super accommodating of all his and our preferences and worked with us to care for him at all times. Thank you!

Satisfied parents, happy toddler!

My husband and I are very pleased with our decision to place our son at Sandfield Day Nursery. The management are efficient and transparent, Kim and Kerrie do whatever they can to support us as parents but also manage any issues quickly and effectively. The staff at Sandfield are extremely professional and friendly, from Tracey in the kitchen to the staff in the rooms they take the time to talk to us and Oliver and are more than happy to spend extra time with us to discuss any concerns and parenting strategy. We will be using Sandfield again for subsequent children.
