Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Webbs Wood Road awarded Ofsted Good

We are delighted to announce that our Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool on Webbs Wood Road has been awarded a Good rating from Ofsted.

The setting, located in the Bristol town of Bradley Stoke, offers a warm and stimulating environment for young children aged 3 months to 5 years. Its passionate and skilled nursery team nurture and support each child’s development, helping to build their confidence, knowledge and positive life skills.

The report praised many key aspects of the nursery which scored Good across all four of Ofsted’s key categories. These are Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development and Leadership and Management.

“Staff build warm, attentive and nurturing relationships with children”

This helps to build a calm and emotionally secure nursery environment for all age groups. Staff effectively use routine to help children become familiar with the nursery and to encourage exploration and promote independence. They help to keep children engaging in their learning and play by skilfully weaving in their interests and are quick to respond to their needs. Children with SEND (special educational needs and/or disabilities) also receive attentive support from staff.

“The curriculum is designed to broaden children's experiences through connections with nature and home”

At Kiddi Caru Webbs Wood Road, there is a strong emphasis on creating a language-rich environment where children’s curiosity and communication skills are nurtured through everyday experiences. The curriculum at the setting is well-structured, having been shaped by its staff team who have a clear understanding of what children need to learn and why. The staff take great pride in the curriculum they have formed, and it gives them a strong sense of shared purpose and ownership.

“Staff place a strong importance on reading stories and using books to support children's learning”

Children enjoy and stay engaged in familiar stories read to them by staff. They happily join in with repeated refrains and can identify characters and settings. A lending library, where children can borrow books to share with those at home, and themed story bags help to further support early literacy. Feedback from families confirms that children show strong enthusiasm for reading at home, particularly at bedtime. This all helps to nurture a lasting love of reading amongst the children.

“Staff recognise and praise children's positive behaviours”

Gentle, positive interactions with children take place throughout the nursery and staff are sure to model a calm and respectful manner. They demonstrate a strong understanding of how to help children regulate their behaviour, giving families ideas of how they can continue to support this at home.

The Ofsted report also praised the strength of the nursery’s parent partnerships. It highlights how regular events, such parents' evenings, open days and themed picnics, help bring families together. Newsletters and daily updates help capture each child’s experiences and make families feel involved in nursery life.
