Nursery first in Teesside to be awarded an Investors in People double

STAFF at The Montessori People childcare nursery in Stockton-on-Tees are celebrating becoming the first day nursery in Teesside to receive both the prestigious Investors in People and Investors in Wellbeing awards. The independent day nursery – based on Tedder Avenue in the heart of Thornaby – has been awarded Silver in the two categories following a rigorous three-month assessment of how it looks after its people. The Investors in People (IIP) assessment was carried out by an independent assessor who highlighted the nursery’s strong leadership, culture of empowerment and involvement of staff – including its ability to build capability within the team – as well as the nursery’s work in the community and investment in staff wellbeing. The assessor concluded that: “Virtually everyone…felt that their career prospects had improved as a result of joining The Montessori People, and the learning and development they had subsequently received.” The announcement is the latest accolade for The Montessori People. Earlier this year, the award-winning nursery received a coveted 10 out of 10 score on daynurseries.co.uk – the nursery industry’s equivalent to the Trip Advisor ratings platform – also coming fourth in the region in the 2025 ‘Top 20 Day Nurseries in the North East’ category.
