WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 13TH OCTOBER 2025

Next week we will be -

Clever Cats This week in Clever Cats we will be looking at recycling! We will be using household items to make models, such as robots, rockets etc. We will also be looking at the different ways we can look after our environment using recycling. The Clever Cats will also be sorting through recycling at nursery and what items we can and cannot recycle. Our book of the week is ‘The Life Of A Little Cardboard Box’ and our song of the week is ‘I Recycle’.

Clever Kittens This week in Clever Kittens we will be looking at what materials can be recycled and what recycling means. The Kittens will be sorting through materials and using them to create lovely pictures. Our book of the week is ‘The Life Of A Little Cardboard Box’ and our song of the week is ‘I Recycle’.

Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds will be looking at Recycling! We will be focusing on feeling different textures and trying to describe how they feel in our hands. The children will be able to explore in the water tuff tray filled with different kinds of rubbish- plastic, cardboard and cans - we will be trying to use the fishing nets to get the resources out of the water to develop our fine motor skills. They will then be making a collage picture using different materials and glue, ripping it themselves and making a wonderful art piece! The Ladybirds will also be reading lots of stories about recycling and trying to learn some new words.

Butterflies Next week, our babies will be exploring Recycling Week through a range of calming, sensory-based experiences. Using recycled materials like bottles, boxes, and fabric scraps, we’ll create treasure baskets and sensory bottles to encourage curiosity, grasping, and exploration. The babies will enjoy song time with homemade shakers, explore textures through recycled art and take part in gentle water play with clean recycled items. These activities will support their sensory, physical and communication development while helping them begin to discover how we can care for our planet in simple, playful ways.
