We are thrilled to announce that Clerkenwell Mount Day Nursery and Preschool has been awarded a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in its recent inspection.
This well-deserved recognition reflects the high-quality, nurturing and enriching Early Years education the nursery team work so hard to provide. Their passion and dedication mean children are inspired to learn, grow and thrive every day.
The report praised many key aspects of the setting, which scored Good across all four of Ofsted’s key categories, Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development and Leadership and Management
"Children feel a sense of belonging at this inclusive and welcoming nursery”
This is reflected in the nursery environment which feels homely and inviting. The team develop secure and supportive relationships with the children, listening attentively and responding to everything they say with warmth and enthusiasm. This helps to build children’s confidence and self-esteem.
“Leaders are highly present in the nursery”
They support staff to develop through effective coaching and modelling and have effective oversight of their practice. Staff are passionate about their roles and about ensuring their colleagues feel valued. Additionally, they share that they feel heard, and that leaders are approachable and supportive.
“Staff act as positive role models and share high expectations of children’s behaviour”
Children make positive behaviour choices, and the nursery environment generally feels calm and purposeful. They are quick to respond to any reminders and instructions issued by the nursery team, such as putting away their toys once they’ve finished playing. The team support children to develop social skills like sharing, taking turns and self-serving at mealtimes as they progress through the nursery. This means they’re well-equipped to meet their own needs in readiness for school.
“Progress is supported through child-led play”
The nursery team thoughtfully organise the learning environments to provide targeted support for the different stages of children’s development. They effectively model language and new vocabulary, issuing instructions in their home languages such as French to support children with English as an additional language. Children enjoy experiences, like visits from the local police, which help enhance the curriculum and encourage them to learn more about the world around them.
Families also shared incredibly positive comments about the nursery team and have praised their efforts to improve the quality of the feedback in recent months. By putting a better focus on children’s development, this feedback allows families to continue to support their children’s learning at home.
Chloe O’Donovan-Davies, Nursery Manager at Clerkenwell Mount, comments “"We are delighted to have received a 'Good' rating from Ofsted. This result is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team, who work with passion every day to provide exceptional care and Early Years education. We strive to create a warm, inclusive and stimulating environment where every child feels valued and supported to reach their full potential."
