SHappy Days Nursery & Pre-School Summercourt, located just outside Newquay, is celebrating continued success following its latest Ofsted inspection, having proudly retained its ‘Good’ rating.
The report praised the nursery for offering a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children are happy, settled, and confident to explore. Inspectors highlighted the positive relationships between staff and children, the high levels of care and cooperation children show toward one another, and a broad curriculum that prepares them well for the next stage of their learning journey.
Joint Nursery Managers Sara King and Di Williams expressed their pride in the result, which reflects the dedication and passion of the whole team. “We are thrilled to have retained our ‘Good’ rating,” said Sara King. “It’s a testament to the commitment of our team in creating a space where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn every day.”
Di Williams added: “We’re incredibly proud of the strong bonds we build with our children and their families. It’s lovely to see the inspector recognise how our inclusive and nurturing approach is helping every child thrive.”
The Ofsted report highlighted how children at Happy Days Summercourt benefit from a rich learning environment that supports communication, independence, and emotional development. Children are encouraged to express themselves, explore their creativity, and work together. Staff were praised for helping children build strong language skills, with a particular focus on developing a love of reading, imaginative play, and meaningful conversation.
Children also enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle, with the report noting the nursery’s emphasis on nutritious food, oral hygiene, and physical development through both indoor and outdoor play. Mealtimes are sociable and enriching, with children taking pride in growing, preparing, and tasting their own food.
The report also acknowledged the team’s effectiveness in identifying and supporting children with additional needs, and using funding well to support disadvantaged children. While inspectors noted that there are some areas for further improvement — such as strengthening communication with some parents and ensuring consistent staff interactions — the nursery was commended overall for its high standards and positive outcomes for children.
Happy Days Summercourt is part of the trusted Happy Days Nurseries group, which has been delivering high-quality childcare across the South West for over 30 years.
