Nursery practitioners at used this year’s father's day as an inspiration for practising fun activities that children can enjoy with their fathers or father figures.
Three of the group’s nurseries, located in Greenock, Inverkip and Thornliebank in Scotland, invited parents to join them in order to spend time reading their favourite storybook, having consulted over attendance times that would best suit each family’s itinerary in the run up to June 21.
The idea is the latest promoted by the nursery group in order to get parents more involved in their child’s early years education.
The power of storytelling is also being embraced at the group’s newest setting in Robroyston, where staff enhanced their own training by attending ‘Bookbug’ sessions provided by the Scottish Trust, picking up ideas to inspire children in their own enchanted reading area.
Creativity, exploration and adventure remain at the heart of the Enchanted Forest learning curriculum, a nursery group that was founded by co-owners Mariessa and Bernie Devlin after being inspired by the birth of their daughter Roisin, and in particular Roisin’s love for her favourite cuddly toy ‘Bun Bun’.
Bernie Devlin said: “Quite simply, the idea of what could lie behind the Enchanted Forest door coupled with Roisin and Bun Bun’s adventures inspired me on my own journey of discovery and that is how Enchanted Forest and Friends was born.”
Since forming in 2010, the Enchanted Forest group have received several awards for customer service excellence and for skills and learning.
